I can never just leave well enough alone and always end up playing around with and tweaking my old hardware.

Anyway for a while now I've wanted to see what the best speed I could get out of this 1.4 is and with a small wire mod to the socket on an Asus TUSL2-C to give it some extra voltage I think I've got my answer. It seems stable so far at 1700, crashed in 3D Mark 2001 at 1711 and it will post at 1733 but will not successfully boot into Windows.

I'll post some pics of the wire mod and the system later today or maybe tomorrow but the specs are as follows:
Asus TUSL2-C
2 x 256MB PC133 CL2 RAM
EVGA Quadro FX 3000 256MB
64GB CF card for storage

Some quick benchmark results:
1400mhz/Quadro - 133mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 167.0fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 38.359749fps
3dmark2000 - 9979
3dmark2001 - 9680

1627mhz/Quadro - 116mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600- 170.1fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 39.788456fps
3dmark2000 - 10470
3dmark2001 - 9912

1648/Quadro - 117.8mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 174.5fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 40.391262fps
3dmark2000 - 10472
3dmark2001 - 9963

1680/Quadro - 120.1mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 176.9fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 40.943924fps
3dmark2000 - 10724
3dmark2001 - 10086

1700/Quadro - 121.5mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 177.6fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 41.354408fps
3dmark2000 - 10836
3dmark2001 - 10216

1711/Quadro - 122.3mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 179.1fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 41.614452fps
3dmark2000 - 11386
3dmark2001 - crashes at various points

I'm definitely going to experiment with running the ram at a higher speed too when I can find some time.

Got some nice improvements in all benchmark results when I run the memory at the same speed as the FSB. However for some reason this board doesn't let you choose 162 if you're running FSB and memory 1:1, the closest is 160 and then there is a gap until 166.

Anyway I have the ram at more relaxed timings of 3-3-3 instead of 2-2-2 and it's very stable at 1680mhz cpu speed.

1680/Quadro - 120.1mhz ram 222-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 176.9fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 40.943924fps
3dmark2000 - 10724
3dmark2001 - 10086

1680/Quadro - 160.1mhz ram 333-7/9
Quake 3 800x600 - 185.3fps
UT2003 botmatch 1024x768 - 42.980572fps
3dmark2000 - 11451
3dmark2001 - 10623

EDIT - None of my Audigy or Audigy 2 soundcards seem to like 40mhz+ pci speeds. I'll play around with this some more on the weekend and get some pics of the mod and system then.
EDIT 2 - I don't think it's PCI speed that's an issue, the soundcards crash the system at 33mhz pci as well, in any event it's late and I'm going to sleep for now.

OMG

I just jumped out of bed to post this, I completely forgot about this stupid motherboard! It was an ebay purchase a few years ago and it has NEVER worked right with any of my PCI expansion cards! 🤣 I feel so dumb right now, my god.

So before I throw out this turdburger of a motherboard here are the promised pics.

I have also tested this same wire trick on MSI and Gigabyte socket 370 boards and it works on all of the ones I have. I cut a section of wire from an 80 wire ide cable to bridge the pins in the socket and laid a section of it in the pins of the processor so it would sit evenly in the socket.

Also just in case here's the site I first got this info on Tualatin voltage mods on from way back in the 2000's! https://www.geocities.ws/tuacubx/reads/MSMG.htm
