I am trying to get sound to work on my Shuttle XPC SB61G2. It has an AC '97 ALC 650 sound chip that works on Windows 2000, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere; the driver install doesn't indicate any problems, but when I check Device Manager, it doesn't show the drivers there. All I see is Legacy Audio Drivers and Audio Codec, no other yellow flags are showing up. I am unsure if this is a problem with Windows 2000 and need to install Windows XP. The other option is to just get a cheap Sound Blaster Live! sound card, but I'd like to see if there is any other things I can troubleshoot. Thanks for any help.

Seems like the sound chip is dead and not being detected. So I got myself a Sound Blaster Live! and now I have sound.
