Resurrecting an old thread, reporting finds from memory. Got a SB16 installed, the creative diagnose utility reports everything is ok, sound samples work fine. No game has any sound though.

I have the opportunity to buy (cheaply) professional tv monitors from an old tv station. I'd be using them for gaming. Any tips on what should I be looking out for? Thanks!

Only seeing your post now, paulisthebest3uk and I haven't figured out the issue. I have since installed the AWE in another machine. I am waiting for a SB16 to arrive and will test the configuration with it once it arrives. Will report here.

Thanks for the manual, even though this is for later pentium models. Yes, I have a MPU-401 connected to the card.

Yes, the same problem happens if I either disable the LPT altogether or set it to "Standard mode" instead of "Extended mode". In the past I've had a problem getting my AWE 64 to output sound when used in conjunction with a MPU card. That issue was solved by changing the SB's 330 port to 300. Have you tried SoftMPU with this setup to see if that makes a difference? I'm not sure if midi playback via the SC-55 requires intelligent mode, but it's worth a try. Alas, I have tried with no success. I am beginning to guess there must be a combination of unfortunate hardware that makes the …

What setup program are you referring to? The games' setup.exe does not offer any setting like that (just choosing a sound and a music card). Neither does mixerset.exe.
