I use dosbox in linux and I'm amazed at the speed of it. I have a laptop with amd sempron (1.8 GHZ) and 1GB ram, and crapy SIS gfxcard. To get the best visuals and speed I use dynamic core, plus auto cycles, original resolution, output to surface and normal3x because otherwise my crap laptop blurs …

Is that variable in linux? I 'solved' using a sound deamon like arts and then running 'artsdsp dosbox' . Of course arts sucks (the sound efex are lagged) so I'm gonna try with esd later.
