Re: web site

Do you want this project to be accessible to 70% of the internet's users? I use firefox, but I think it is incredibly and unexcusably immature to expect people to not use IE. Most people don't give a shit, and their not giving a shit is no reason for them to not learn about this great project. You …

Re: improve protected mode emulation?

No-wonder this forum is slowing going down the slipper slope. A forum is a reflection of a community. Perhaps the increase in n00b questions is a reflection of the growing popularity of dosbox? With this increase in popularity comes an increase in unreasonable demands on performance and quality. I …

Re: My god, it's full of stars

in Milliways
While I don't have details now, I can say that by fiddling with the URL I can get it working. E.g., if I click on search since last visit, I get a URL like this: http://www.vogons.org/search.php?search_id=newposts If I append "&start=25" to this, then I'll get page 2. If I use the pager down the …

Re: My god, it's full of stars

in Milliways
Just out of curiosity, what browser do you use and which kinds of searches give you this problem? I use firefox. The only searches I ever do are the "since last visit" ones. It *always* happens when those go to more than one page. This only started happening a few months ago.

Re: My god, it's full of stars

The first place I started noticing it was when I do a "new posts since last visit" search that returns a result that is over a page long. This happens to me too (consistently).

Re: Attempt to solve FILES= problems

I was having problems with errors about FILES=30 when running tie fighter. After putting in some debug info, it became obvious that the problem was that my HD copy of tie fighter was actually missing some files; it's just that the program was reporting the error as "make sure you have FILES=30 set" …

missing dlls

canadacow, Great work on the emulator! Would it be possible for you to include all the missing DLLs that are required for your dosbox build? It is inconvenient having to track them down, and I can't imagine it is difficult including them. Thanks yet again for this great project.

Re: We've Been SLAPPed

I don't program in any sense of the word, but I do have a good ear, and if something sounds out of tune is it not right that we should have passed this onto you? I certainly couldn't tell you how to fix it, but as the creator of the emulator surely you wanted feedback? I totally agree with this. I …

Re: Bigger, better, faster alpha version

Seriously though, if anyone really, truly wants canadacow to release the source, then just say "canadacow, please release the source". If you do that, then he's legally obligated to release his source for the DOSbox version of the emulator due to DOSbox's GPL license. But if you don't really, truly …

Re: Bigger, better, faster alpha version

Seems pretty fast to me -- I'm on a celeron p4 2 ghz (I think 😀 )and I used to get big spikes to 100% of CPU with your previous versions, but on this version I didn't see the cpu jump past 25% after playing around with it for a bit. Keep up the fantastic work! 😀

Re: Just a quick update (not a new release though)

As a first example, what about the SQ3 mp3s you have on your web site? The last time I listened to them, the very first note is off-pitch. E.g., play the mt-32 version for a second, and then the emulator version for a second, and you'll notice a definite difference in pitch. I don't suppose you can …

Re: 2003-8-2 Release

Yeah, I agree...it's getting to the point where I don't wince every two seconds. This is a seriously cool project, I only wish I understood enough about the MT-32 to contribute 🙁. Where do we send our donations?
