Re: TIE Fighter Progressive Slowdown

This sounds like some app running in background, thinkink that your system is idle at the moment. Most likely - antivirus software, disk defragmenter, windows internal drive indexing, a shared computing or something. It may also be some memory managemnt app, asking windows to dump active memory to …

Re: I want to use himem.sys and emm386.exe

in DOSBox General
in config.sys you should load emm386.exe with some paramethers DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE RAM I=D000-EFFF FRAME=E000 this should do the trick. There has been a discussion on this some moths ago, it may be helpfull. dosbox VCPI emulation and MEGAEM (gm/mt32 sound with gus)

Re: extracting patches from sysex, how?

in MT-32 General
gravis have released their software now (ater gravis closed) for free. However I just want to be able to load patches with loadpats myself, since gravis mt32 emulation ignores patches uploaded to it. Re: lunix shortcuts?

in DOSBox General
IMHO the info should not be in a file which is hard to find. Better be in the manpage (well it is technically a file also), but the man i usually the fist place to look at. CTRL-ALT-FX are always reserved by the X server/virtual consoles so I believe the configure should detect linux/unix and change …

Re: lunix shortcuts?

in DOSBox General

Linux shortcuts?

in DOSBox General
Hi I may be totally dump but was unable to find the replacement for the CTRL-ALT-FX shortcuts in linux, for example CTRL-ALT-F5 is capture to video, but in linux these type of shortcuts are reserved for other things. I've tryed CTRL-ALT-5 and CTRL-SHIFT-F5, even CTRL-ALT-ESC-5 but neither was with …

Re: "Conventional Memory" and DPMI

in DOSBox General
Since the game is VESA I would suggest getting used to QEMU. It is a pc virtualizer/emulator, and in some cases runs better than DOSBOX, but you need a bunch of things like disk images and installing a real os. Not too much work - 30-40 minutes from download to useful state. Also - install dosidle …

Re: Best DOS video card?

in Marvin \ Video
IMHO the best card for pure dos, on ISA systems is WD90C30 (wonderfull drivers - can turn the card to cga, herculer, mcga in full hardware mode) with at least 512KB (1MB is better) or later of the same series Western Digital/Paradise. For dos games on PCI systems - some of ATI Wonder series cards …
