It says that SDL, the underlying cross platform library used by Dosbox was built with Quickdraw and not Quartz. This is not a problem and if you'd do your own built of Dosbox on Snow Leopard this message wouldn't appear Happy Thanks for the interpretation. Wonder if it has any significance …

Have you checked out the DOSBox Preferences configuration file (in ~/library/preferences/)? It's a text file which DOSBox checks upon opening. There's a section in it for assigning COM ports, under the heading [serial]. You should be able to point DOSBox to your device there.

To clarify: my DOSBox Preferences is the one bundled with the download, modified only in the [autoexec] section, for my own purposes. By "does not find" I mean that, apparently, the preferences file is not accessed as the .app file loads. I'm sure that the preferences file is pure text . . .

Yes, thank you, tried your good suggestion with no result, other than the same one: DOSBox does not find a configuration file, whether named Dosbox Preferences, kept in /library/preferences or dosbox.conf kept in the dosbox executable's directory. Appreciate your post.
