Re: Game Test Notes: Beneath a Steel Sky

in DOS
Small mention here, btw, that Revolution has sent the ScummVM team the BASS sourcecode :) It'll probably be months and months away (the original source is still pure assembly, so hard to read)... but eventually we'll probably have a BASS mode (and maybe a Lure mode after that) along with our SCUMM …

Originally posted by Stiletto Sorry about that. :) Besides, if your only problem as a kid was having a weird name, you're ahead of me. :) Oh, I could list them all, starting with being born, then going on to living on the street at 14, and so on. But I won't :) BTW, Vogons needs an IRC channel …

Originally posted by Snover The latest, 40.72. They're WHQL certified, but I still think they're EXTREMELY buggy. As a matter of fact, I *know* they are, because without deleting all the language-specific DLLs for the thing, its CPL crashes. Well, there must be newer. I asked a ScummVM user who …

Originally posted by Snover Don't suppose you know if the other(s) use GeForce3Ti500s, do you? Strange that it would occur only with SDL, I must say. I know in both cases it was some kind of GeForce. It's possible your both using the same version of the driver. It's not actually that suprising. SDL …

Originally posted by [vEX] I don't know if you have seen it yet, but they seem to be going for ScummVM 0.3.0 :D http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/ "Well, we seem to have lost contact with LucasArts, as we haven't heard from them for several weeks now. So, assuming they don't suddenly e-mail us and …

Originally posted by Snover Wonder what happened to their progressing dialogue... anyone on the ins with the Underdogs want to email her and ask about that? Probably the same thing that's happened to our dialog with LucasArts - it just stops and they no longer answer our emails. *grumbles and spams …

Originally posted by Snover What's the biggest snag as far as their requirements in order to release the new version is concerned? It's their whole commercial use definition. They won't agree to allow distribution with other commercial software, which means that ScummVM can't be bundled in Linux/ …

Originally posted by Snover Yeah, except for that part about LEC continuing to show their ignorant idiocy. Give 'em time - they are being better sports than MOST companies out there, at least they are willing to negotiate :) But it's annoying me because we've made enough changes for at least 4 new …

Better yet, reformat and install Linux :P Originally posted by Snover This is exactly what I've done. I reformatted my C drive and reinstalled Windows 2000. Thank God it only took one try this time, although it seems that Microsoft Outlook (yea, yea, shut the hell up) dislikes PGP Freeware now for …

Originally posted by Ender It's not PERFECT, but try a recent daily build of ScummVM. Oh, and please... noone ask why an interpreter for SCUMM games can also run Simon The Sorcerer (I/II) :P

Re: Simon the Sorcerer II on XP

It's not PERFECT, but try a recent daily build of ScummVM. ScummVM can play -some- versions of Simon2, but we've been concentrating on Simon1 support lately. See the URL in my signature :) You want to run it with the game target 'simon2dos' and 'simon2win'. Try each in both the dos and windows …

Re: Sam & Max

in DOS
The sound problem is a ScummVM bug. It's not the WRONG sound effect, but when you enter a new room ScummVM will occasionally play a PHANTOM sound effect. This is something we're looking into, but it's not considered an important bug :)
