Carrier Command save game crash

Hey all. Been having a bit of a play with that old classic carrier command. It seems to work fine under dosbox 0.61, except when loading/saving It saves the game ok (savefile is created on my HD) but then dosbox exits (SDL Parachute deployed). Dosbox will then exit if you enter the load game screen …

Re: Privateer and Battle Isle 2

Weird - i have battle isle 2 running just fine in 0.60. This sounds to me like it may be some kind of anti-priacy measure. Quite a few games used to continue working if they were pirated, but with massively ramped up difficulty (e.g. Moo1, Rogue). Are you using the CD or the floppy version? If its …

Re: Welcome to the Desert of the Real World

Jesus. This is awful. I dont have a problem with the colour scheme, but the font sizes are fuxx0red on my machine. Waaaay too big - lines of text are overlapping one another! Using IE 5.5. I'd use another browser, but i'm at work and dont have that luxury. This wouldnt be a problem, as usually i …

Re: newb: how do i USE this thing?

6MB isnt very much these days (nor has it been for at least 5 years). Also, IIRC, there really isnt a significant performance hit when running a windows desktop at 32bpp - most of the gruntwork is handled by the graphics card itself. Anyhow, it would be nice if DOSBox at least ran in 32bpp mode so …

Re: Harpoon 2 and CPU Paging

http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/status.php?show_status=1 Under 80386 : 32-bit pmode support but missing task switching and paging emulation. So its not supported. But i would guess that its in the queue. So it'll probably be done when its ready 😁

Re: Determining CPU Cycles?

If we accept that we're unlikely to get CPU-accurate timings any time soon, how about the next best thing: have DOSBox remember what the timings (an possibly any other settings) were set to on an application by application basis. Have DOSBox start as normal reading its config as normal, then …

Re: Unloading Your Tsr's

Maybe you should create a separate forum... i.e. split this forum to a 'current stable release' forum and a 'cvs release' forum. This would do several Good Things: * Make admins job easier - you can move any stray CVS related threads straight into tha appropriate forum. * Make the developers job …

Re: Saved states?

But I bet they are console emulators, right? I can see how setting up "snapshots" for a PC emulator could get very messy very quickly. ... Hmmm... yeah, now i've thought about it a bit more - dosbox *is* a more complex job than the average emulator... the main difference being the fact that youre …

Re: Saved states?

CPU register status, status of all HW devices, etc. Surely all of these states are just variables in the emulator memory space, which can be saved/restored as easily as anything else? Or did you mean something else? I know many other emulators which manage this perfectly well. Generally its …
