Re: Best DOS video card?

I started the whole DOS playing thing with a 286/12 and a 512kb vga... back then, when they where new technology. all that paradise/trident etc cards are good isa ones, and personally I think nothing beats a CirrusLogic 542x card for ISA. but since we are talking about PCI cards (I think we are, …

Re: Best DOS video card?

I don't understand why u all bother with "strange/exotic" 2D DOS vga's... all you need for every 2D game is a PCI S3 based card! it was so popular, that 99,9% games work excellent with it.... and with the free UNIVBE , u get accelerated vesa3.0 support too....

well, there is no irq/address conflict, because the scc-1 that works has irq2/port330 as well.... that is interesting about the -5v , the mobo is a cheap one of the era, what make model is yours? perhaps on ebay there is some I can get too....

in PC Emulation

Re: How (in)compatible MS-DOS 7 is?

in DOS
as for the 629 free conventional memory is not really a big deal. I own PC-DOS 6 and 7 (IBM versions) and from 6 and up, 630kb conventional is no big deal. their HIMEM.SYS can load in UMB without EMM386. but it lacks fat32 so I don't use it anymore, I use a win98se machine that boots in dos.

Re: RTP file help.

in DOS
so, you found the original makers of rtpatch, pocketsoft. do they have an update or something??? what solution u found there?

Re: RTP file help.

in DOS
I will rephrase it... rtp files are not archives containing whole files inside. they contain byte patches (similar to cracks) so it is a little difficult and without a point to make a 3rd party software to handle these files. ur best shot is another pc. maybe send it to me? I might be able to help …

Re: RTP file help.

in DOS
use another pc with win 95/98 installed ... there is no other methof AFAIK

Re: RTP file help.

in DOS
rtp files are just data containing the bytes changed/added... they don't have the full file inside , unless a new one is added to the game... so unless u can get the rtp engine running, u are basically boned...
