Re: Munt issue with Windows 10

in MT-32 General
Extracted mt32emu_win32drv-1.5.1-win32-amd64.zip from: https://sourceforge.net/projects/munt/files/munt/2.3.0-Updates/ to a temp directory and then ran the following from a command prompt where I extracted the archive: infinstall_x64 install -sign Drivers updated to .. Driver Date: 6/20/2020 Driver …

Re: Munt issue with Windows 10

It IS annoying. MS continues to break and change things with every major update to Windows 10. It gets tiring. I appreciate that you were able to find a way for Munt to survive a shut down or reboot in the latest version of Windows 10 ( Version 2004). I use Munt with more applications than DOSBox, …

And it seems very possible to make the drvsetup work around all that stuff. As of commit f06219376 , it can happily register the virtual synth device in the PnP manager, so the configuration now persists Windows restarts. There's a snapshot build available. Well, I personally like this way more. …

sergm, Using the XML file from your archive above as a guideline, I was able to create the necessary task myself. Windows did not complain about needing a password. Re-started the computer and it works. Thank you!

Re: Munt issue with Windows 10

As a quick win, here's a scheduled task that can be imported in the "Computer Management/Task Scheduler/Task Scheduler Library/Import Task..." to execute "drvsetup repair" (from the default location the munt installer it writes to) at the system startup. During importing, it should be configured to …

Re: MUNT disappears in DOSBox

in MT-32 General
Actually, there is a nice solution for it found quite some time ago by Tobias Erichsen . There is just one drawback with this approach: "This software is NOT freeware or shareware. This software is copyrighted by Tobias Erichsen". Although, using just his loopmidi driver for routing MIDI is way …

Re: MUNT disappears in DOSBox

On a more useful note, a way around this, for Munt, would be running it in a VM along with Virtualmidi and two USB to MIDI interfaces, one assigned to the VM and the other to the host OS. Then all you need to do is plug a MIDI cable between both USB interfaces and Bob's your uncle ! You may be …

Re: MUNT disappears in DOSBox

Amazing that it still works somehow. I bet windows won't let it to run at all after the next update. Still, I'm not going to buy the developer certificate for windows kernel drivers. Better be DOSBox implementing another API for connecting such software synth as plugins, or somehow. Probably, VSTi …

Re: MUNT disappears in DOSBox

Just came across the problem today after installing the Windows 10 May 2020 Update version 2004 Both MUNT and VirtualMidiSynth are both disabled on every reboot. Not for just DOSBox, but any application that uses it. Frustrating !

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Thank you for the detailed feedback on this issue kcroft and Pr3tty F1y. It seems to be an issue with how GOG ripped the CD for Betrayal At Krondor. I'll stick with the regular DOSBox SVN for this game since it does play the CD Audio. Here's the GOG cue file for the game if it's of any help: CATALOG …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

There are some issues with CD Audio and DOSBox ECE that I have tested and verified. I've been playing Betrayal At Krondor (the GOG release). If you replace the DOSBox version inside the game's DOSBox folder (which is 0.74) with DOSBox ECE the CD audio will not play. Note: You can select the CD …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

There's an audio bug in the last r4279 Windows Build. Popping digital sounds in Prince of Persia. I usually crank sound frequency up to 49716 to get the best results in OPL emulation, but I don't think this is the cause of the issue, because I've always done that and there was no problem at all …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Okay, I had to adjust some other patches after applying the "new" 3Dfx patch from kjliew, but I managed to get the windows version working again. I still have to get openglide into my Linux VM so I can try to compile the code there, too. In the meantime, it'd be nice if someone could give me some …
