Thank you for DOSBox 0.72!

I've just downloaded version 0.72 because I couldn't get something to run fast enough under my then current version, 0.70. The difference in performance is absolutely amazing. I haven't yet been able to find something it can't handle. Fantastic job! 😁

When you ran setup originally, did you do it from DOSBox? If you didn't, try running DOSBox with everything set how it's going to be when you try to run the game (ie, all the necessary drives mounted). I've managed to get Strike Commander to run under DOSBox (on lowest detail settings :)). However in the middle of a mission, for no reason at all, my fuel will suddenly drop from 2300+ to 75. Step 1: Run DOSBox. Step 2: Run Privateer from DOSBox. Did you honestly expect meaningful help without providing any meaningful description of the problem you're having (ie, error messages)? But because I'm feeling generous: try set ems=false in your dosbox.conf.

If i have understood correctly the short answer is NO. You only need working windows drivers regardless what physical sound card is present. The "emulation" software fools your apps/games into believing they have a SB card available or Midi or whatever. EDIT: I am talking about running ms-dos games …

I'd also like to know how to get sound working under DOS. I've got some kind of SB16 emulation drivers, but they can't find the card. This might be a silly question, but: do you actually need a Sound Blaster card of some description for the SB16 emulator drivers to do anything?
