Re: Networking doesn't work in 86Box

I installed Win95 in 86box 1.20. Network Card ist RTL8029 and Drivers are installed. WinPCap is installed (Host system is Win7 64bit) But win95 says it cant get a IP from DHCP so i think network is not working. Also the Homepage of 86box say: PCap needs manual configuration... What manual …

Re: Networking doesn't work in 86Box

Problem solved! :) I updated to build 472 of 686B0x [07ffe37] and in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, I simply changed line 19 to read LH NE2000 0x60 3 0x300 . 0x300 is the address and the 3 is the IRQ that I'm using to emulate the ISA version of the NE2000 network card. It's easier to use SLiRP for now, …

Re: Networking doesn't work in 86Box

I have personally tested Win10PCap (since I'm using Windows 10), and it works. I'll test it using a Damn Small Linux Distro to see if networking works with Win10PCap since I'm using Windows 8.1. Update: I managed to boot the DSL linux distro off of the ISO on the ASUS P/I-5541P4XE machine and ended …

Networking doesn't work in 86Box

I have problem getting the emulated network card with SLiRP instead of PCAP, the NE2000 ISA on the DTK 486 machine (AMD 486DX2 66MHz, 8 MB RAM, Phoenix S3Trio 64 w/1 MB VRAM). I installed the Arachne v1.97 and tried to configure the IP address to use 10.0.2.15, 10.0.2.2 for the Gateway and 10.0.2.3 …

Re: PCEm. Another PC emulator.

Thank you for telling me! SCSI CD-ROMs are useful if you have two IDE hard disk images installed under 86Box and the BIOS only has one IDE channel. :) The problem with the AMI 286, AMI 386SX, AMI 386DX and AMI 486 BIOSes are that it didn't support hard disks larger than 504 MB. I'm wondering how …

Re: PCEm. Another PC emulator.

If anyone wants SCSI emulation, just use 86Box. Has Battler tried to add hard disk SCSI emulation to 86Box yet? This can be done somehow by porting some of the code from QEMU. Until then, for SCSI hard disk and CD-ROM emulation, either use VMware Workstation Player, Qemu or VirtualBox. :) Just only …

Re: Paku Paku in Virtual PC

in DOS
There are no S3 Trio specific registers for this. There are VGA ones, which will work correctly on a real S3 Trio. The problem is that Virtual PC does not implement them correctly. I can't blame Microsoft for not implementing VGA specific registers correctly on the emulated S3 Trio. Virtual PC is a …

Okay, understood. I just wanted to give you some feedback. :-) Bye the way, the last version of the Virtual PC emulator still had this issue (see pic). So it seems this was never fixed. SoftWindows also suffered from similar problems, albeit much worse (garbled screen). With the author being really …

Good evening, everyone. I tested Paku Paku on the earliest version of Virtual PC I have got (v3.0). The results are the same as from ppgrainbow and I also tried the /safe switch. pakupaku_vpc3.png It looks like VPC has problems with 160 x 100 graphics which has problems with certain games such as …

Re: PCem Sound is too Quiet!

Came here to complain of the same issue... already tried using the mixerset util that comes with the Sound Blaster, but it still fells a bit anemic compared to regular Windows sound levels. Any other ideas? You might want to check to see if volume is too low. If it is, you need to open up the …

Re: Formatted by what OS ?

Floppy and hard disk images that have the IBMMS3.3 OEM signature within the first 16 bytes of the disk were formatted under IBM PC-DOS 3.3 (1987). Further down, you will see a IBMBIO.COM and IBMDOS.COM - those are files that are need to boot the OS. Thanks for your reply. As you said, this OEM …

Re: Anyone using Direct Access?

I also used Automenu around the time :) but even before that I used some .bas file that made a .com file of an ascii menu screen to be used in conjunction with bat files Wow! Automenu 4.7 is one of those menu programmes released in late 1990. I never used it though. It was Direct Access all the way …

Anyone know what is it ? sshot-1.png Floppy and hard disk images that have the IBMMS3.3 OEM signature within the first 16 bytes of the disk were formatted under IBM PC …
