There was an episode of storage wars (or something silly like it), they found some random junk in it, but completely failed to mention the 1970's mainframe parts. The cassette reels alone sold for $100 EACH and I remember seeing at least 20 on the shelf. bleh.

call me crazy, but $70 is a bit steep. The highlights of the list are the soundcard and the vlb scsi card. The board is good, but would sit unused on my shelf like the nine button on a microwave...

You need fast page mode SIMMs instead of EDO SIMMs. EDO doesn't work with most 486 chipsets. you know, I had just thought of that. now "SOME" edo chips are backwards compatible. I have a 64mb set. In fact it runs my mac 660av. That would explain why some "edo" modules work and some don't. I believe …

parity. x36 modules have 9 or 3 physical chips. (I've seen 5, but 95% are 9) x32 are non-parity. they have an even number, usually 8. some boards are parity only, but most don't care. it maybe your board cares.

if the caps are all about to blow, replace the board. if its a real nice board you like, then you can re-cap it. just make sure the uF rating is the same, voltage doesn't matter. NOT true. if you put a 6.3v cap in a place where it will see 12v. you might as well put firecrackers on your motherboard …

I'm sad because I wanted that board. My personal cutoff was $100. I'm sad because that jerkoff with the $450 Tyan one now thinks he has a shot. I'm sad because if I had a SDS2 i would have sold it for 350. 😢
