Re: What modern activity did you get up to today?

in Milliways
i guess it would have been funnier if i had a reaction image like this at the end: https://media1.tenor.com/images/62827eb706e8dbc331cc4d6aea6b9a0c/tenor.gif?itemid=5112674 but seriously, yes. drive rails for my 9595 and ALR. I also have some old macs with plastic as fragile as spun glass, so it …

Re: What modern activity did you get up to today?

So i got a 3d printer the other day, and i'm just having a grand time with it. I printed off the dog & cat that was on the cf card that came with my printer. An Ender 5 pro, btw. be warned, the 3rd print is "technically" not safe for work. So if your sense of humor is lacking, don't click the 3rd …

Re: 20mhz 286's

i've seen people try. its not worth the effort. That 20mhz on the chipset, is usually a strict rating. Not that identical chipsets could possibly run at 25mhz, but during testing, they found out it could only go up to 20mhz. So running it at 25 is an exercise in wasting your time. if the chip worked …

https://techreport.com/review/29144/revisiting-the-killer-nic-eight-years-on/ There are a few games that seem to work a bit better, but nothing even remotely worth the extra cost over a standard adapter. The problem is software support. It likely won't support pre XP operating systems. To be fair, I …

Re: Dual socket 7 build

i threw that into ebay, and that looks like a cheap chinese knockoff card. I wouldn't recommend using that. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254621849752 if you don't want it to overhang, the pro/1000 GT is the card you want. The killer nic is a crappy copy of the Intel chip with buggy drivers. I wouldn't …

Re: Dual socket 7 build

if you want a "killer" nic. Look for the Intel PRO series. Both the 10/100 and gigabit series cards have a lot of features that offload work onto the card, and not the CPU. Drivers are mature and even still updated from time to time. I looked at the pro 10/100 drivers recently and the DOS drivers …
