Re: Dead VLB video card maybe.

Just an update on this. It would appear to be the video card for whatever reason that I can't figure out, but after trying the motherboard with a Trident TVGA9000i-3 ISA card the machine works perfectly even with a VLB I/O card installed. Have put in a request for a return and refund, but now I'll …

Re: Dead VLB video card maybe.

Small update: I've tested the board again with the limited spare parts I have on hand. Tested the board with no CPU and/or RAM - No beeps at all. Tested with different 486DX33 CPU - No change. Tested with other memory sticks I have - No change. For some reason I only get beeps when the CPU and RAM …

Re: Dead VLB video card maybe.

Make sure JP18 is jumpered 1-2. 2-3 is for Weitek Power 9000 only. Also take a look at JP1 and JP2 foir the VLB speed and wait state settings. Make sure the other jumpers are configured properly as well. https://stason.org/TULARC/pc/motherboards/E/ELITEGROUP-COMPUTER-SYSTEMS-INC-486-UC4914-G.html …

Re: Dead VLB video card maybe.

kixs wrote: Usually if VGA card is dead, the motherboard would still make error beeps. Yeah that's weird, no beeps and no further POST. Just does nothing when the video card is installed. Just tried Checking jumpers. No change. Tried all three slots. No change. Cleaned contacts and slots. No change …

Dead VLB video card maybe.

Or really I hope. I really hope it's not the motherboard. The motherboard is an Elitegroup UC4914-G and appears to be working. When powered up without the video card plugged in I get one long beep followed by 8 short beeps. According to the AMIBIOS beep codes that means a display failure because the …

Re: 486 motherboard ID

$60 ebay one :), seller specializes in this stuff, you can try asking him directly 30 pin simms = budget board, usually slow lower right corner is a space for 3V regulator, and soldered jumper, super easy to mod Yes that's the one. My first 486 had 8 30-pin slots so that's good enough for me. I …

486 motherboard ID

Can anyone identify this board for me. I did a quick search, but I couldn't find anything that matched. Comes with a 486 DX33 and supposedly 256KB cache, but the auction ends soon and I'd like to know if the board is worth it and if it can be upgraded. https://i.imgur.com/oGBLUxt.jpg It also comes …

Athlon XP for XP (wardrobe expansion)

Having managed to finally fix my Pentium II machine and play some great old games, I'm now looking to add one more machine to the wardrobe to fill that space between the early to mid 2000's with an XP build. I have a few of the parts for it already which is why I chose to do this. So far I have the …

Re: Diamond Stealth III S540 32Mb

I did manage to find another S540 shortly after making that post. A seller from Germany had one and shipped it out the next day. The funny thing is after I purchased the second card Russian post found the package and are apparently continuing to deliver it to me.

Re: Diamond Stealth III S540 32Mb

Sadly the person on Ebay that sold me the card had to give me a refund today because the Russian post office lost the package :blah: They'd had the thing for two days and it hadn't even gone anywhere. After all that I don't think I'll bother purchasing items from Russia again unfortunately. So now …
