Re: Developing games FOR dosbox?

Yes, I understand you can use sdl. But there are a number of reasons i'm interested in developing for dos. For one, I never really learned much when I used to use dos primarily. So this gives me a chance to do what i've always wanted, which is really learn some hardcore bare-metal programming. For …

Re: Developing games FOR dosbox?

I'm still considering it. I did a bit of turob pascal stuff back in the olden days, and then of course a bit of c stuff later. Just wonder with the fact that there are alot of platforms dosbox runs and people using it, if there's an actual market... maybe only freeware games but it would prove …

Developing games FOR dosbox?

I'm curious, anyone try to develop new dos games to run on dosbox? I know this isn't strictly a dosbox development question, but I figured it would best be here, because it is about developing :-) I almost have half a mind to do a new game in dos, using dosbox since I have a ton of old dos …

Re: Fullscreen color depth?

Well if you feel like buying me one, i'd be glad to accept it. It's a matrox rainbow runner card attached to a matrox millenium 2, and for an analog capture card it's pretty darn good, with the exception that it's pretty old. Plus there's no sense in ridiculing someone else's hardware.

Re: Fullscreen color depth?

You missed what I said. My video-to-tv card won't allow 8bit color or dos programs to be displayed on the tv. I'm wondering if Dosbox uses 8bit color in fullscreen mode or not? If it does, then I won't be able to play the games on my tv, but if it uses 16bit color in fullscreen, then i'll be able to …

Fullscreen color depth?

Does fullscreen switch into 8bit color mode (256 colors) I notice in some games when switching screens it does the palette flicker, and i'm kind of wondering because I want to play some of these games on my tv, but my tv card only outputs in 16bit color in windows, it doesn't do dos or 8bit (256) …

Re: Aspect ratio

I was just trying to help. I never meant you to be stupid or something. And besides, believe it or not, there are many people out there who don't read the read.me file. I know, pretty stupid of them isn't it? ;-) I have actually looked over a readme before and not realized something was in it and …

Re: Aspect ratio

Actually I did intend to play in a window. And yes I did know alt-enter puts it into full screen. I'm not completely stupid. If I wanted to know how to switch to full screen I would have asked, but then that would have been dumb of me considering it's actually in the readme. Srecko - you're right, …

Aspect ratio

I'm just wondering if there's a way to change the aspect ratio of the window. Basically what i'm getting at is, i'm running King's Quest 6, and since it's in 320x200 when I run it in a window it gets "squished" because i'm using 800x600 resolution, i'm wondering if there's a way to fix this, or if …
