Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

*hmm* well I get no segfaults or anything but I'm getting rather nasty CPU banging when I try to run any game when using Opengl/nb. I tried it on Ultima6, ROUND.COM, Sierra games, and others. The sound/video skips but there's no reason for it to skip my cycles are at their everyday normal level. A …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Abe's Oddysee works fluently (both: movies and game itself) with dynamic core (640x480x16bit). So it is a myth that 16-bit colour in dosbox will be too slow. I didn't realize there was a DOS version of that game. I have the Windows version only? i think. Man, I'd like to see how it works in DOS : …

Re: The hatred of DosBox

There is a patch on the sourceforge.net page Automatic 'cycles' adjusting patch which could? make it easier to work with games that start overloading yer CPU. The problem with it is that this patch is LINUX only so there's not too much use for it yet. Just thought to point out that somebody worked …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Alright, it's working properly now 'Moe' :). Not a crash in sight. Window to Fullscreen A-OK!. I also tested with Opengl(nb) that VESA 16bit works (and 8-bit too). My testing program was Star Trek: Final Unity which has the choice to use 8-bit, 15-bit, and 16-bit color modes using uniVESA (I assume …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

strip and strip -s are the same but strip -d is different and it will crash on stripping SDL.dll. It has at least for me. I don't have the later binutils because I got some other errors with other projects with the candidate version. I recommend using the current versions of the tools and the …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

@Gulikoza, yes, I know it's weird. It must be an issue with the binutils from MinGW. I'm not sure though. And it happens that same for me as well as I can strip sdl.dll fully but I can't strip -d sdl.dll . Yet I can strip -d anything else just not the SDL from SDL1.3.x. *chuckles* I just had an idea …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Strange I can't strip -d SDL.dll for SDL1.3.x (stripe.exe crashes) but i can strip the one for SDL1.2.x and the any other DLLs (as long as they were built with MinGW) just fine. So I'll just steal yours for the time being MOE. lol. Anyways, I don't have to do any game in particular cause it happens …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

About the crashing with Sbaitso. I found out that it was not an issue with SDL or Moe's patch but an issue with EMS being set to false. Causing DOSBox to either hang or crash running Dr. Sbaitso. The program can be found this thread . So yeah, lol, I redid my compiler and now i can strip debug info …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Might be OFF-Topic but seems important: You know I think SDL1.3.x is unstable. I have a program that works in regular SDL 1.2.x but not in SDL 1.3.x. It's the Dr. Sbaitso program. It's strange but true. And It's not DOSBox either because the line it crashes at in the DOSBox Sourcecode hasn't been …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Okay here we go.. seems to be something that happened earlier on the first time I tried this. But we DO get DOSBox to the shell, which is nice. :-D Just some games are causing crashes with it. NOTE: GeForce 4s don't support the openglhq method. At least not mine. (gdb) bt #0 Normal_8_32 (s=0x19a8098 …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Ha ha, moe, I love ya man. It works :). Great job. I do have some weirdness going from window to fullscreen it only happens on and off though. It's another SegFault SDL that occurs on the transfer from Window to Fullscreen. I'm also getting crazy crashes just running programs. Most likely SegFaults …

Re: Hq2x / Hardware OpenGL-HQ scaling

Heya Moe, Tried your new patch.. Got something differet this time. Might find it interesting. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v382/Ieremiou/error.png An assertion error? Hmm. Btw, I have output set to opengl but that line is suppose to be defined for only openglhq . Greets :) EDIT: Adding other …

Re: original Sound Blaster demo...

Also as a bonus I was able to find a place that had zipped up the Talking Parrot and Dr. Sbaitso Demos. Unfortunately they don't seem to work properly under DOSBox. Anybody got any ideas? NOTE: DR. SBAITSO will run under the DOS Command Prompt in Windows XP (I just tried it with my SB Audigy Card) …

Re: original Sound Blaster demo...

Well. Today's your Lucky Day! I still happen to have that soundblaster demo. That I kept since having the Soundblaster Pro Card in my parent's old 386 (which by the way still runs beautifully.) I'm not sure if it runs correctly in DOSBox 0.63 but in the current CVS it runs beautifully. Although, it …
