Re: HP T5710 windows 98 build

What about a stand-alone DOS, like Caldera DOS, FreeDOS or IBM DOS 7/2000? Does it work the same in this case as MS-DOS 7.x does? I have a working FreeDOS installation. It detects USB flash drives as ordinary hard drives, provided that they have been plugged in before the BIOS POST. Hi! Thanks a …

Re: Floppy Disk DISK.ID

I am lost as well how do you install sb pro 2.0 drivers from a gotek floppy? The drive id is different and you cannot change the default floppy000 If you flash your Gotek with the FlashFloppy firmware you can just copy the image files to the USB drive directly, and the original label from the image …

Re: Text wrap in Infocom games-Please help

Hi! Speaking of alternative interpreters, there are also WinFrotz and Winfocom for Windows. At least the latter one can run on Windows 3.1 also, which in turn can run inside of DOSBox.. It's of course not as nostalgic as running the original Z-Machine interpreter, though. :( On the bright side, …

Re: Getting graphical artifacts in a few games.

Quick update. I tested the game on an HP Thin Client. It runs Win98SE and has a Transmeta CPU and an ATI Rage XL on-board. DirectX is v8. 1. Interestingly, the effects seem to work just fine, but Jaruu rotates.. Maybe DirectX 9 automagically fixes this somehow? I tested in 400x300 and 640x480 pels …

Re: Is old windows 95 software rare nowadays?

Software that was common in the era when computers were already ubiquitous consumer products just can't be rare. You're right. Normally not, no. Though it was very time consuming and tricky to track down older Win32s compatible versions of popular software. I experienced this myself when I started …

Re: Is old windows 95 software rare nowadays?

I came across some old win95 software from 1995-1997 on one of my burned CDs. It was from time period when I was a bad pirate. It made me wonder if someone does archive this kind of old software or if it is hard to find these kinds of software still? I recognized at least these software on the CD: …

Re: Favorite win3.1 software?

Non gaming software... I miss some screen savers like After Dark , but I don't miss others like "Chickens from Hell" or "Hey, Macaroni". Ah, yes, good ol' Rhode Island Soft Systems . I remember their "Hollyear vs Teethson" screen saver too. Different times. Cool! I'm too young for After Dark I …
