Re: 486 and Roland MT32

in Marvin \ Sound
Also, do SB16 and newer still support the legacy SB DSP MIDI as well? [..] I think so. At least I can confirm that I once checked a "SoundBlaster-16 MPU" option and it worked, apparently. Port "330" looks dubious, but MPU-401 was listed separately.. See pictures here: http://www.vogons.org/ …

Drama writers nolonger use papyrus or parchment, either.. It's just natural that artists use tools they can handle and have at hand. As for me, I'd probably also favor a RAD environment over C++ or assembly. At least for prototyping (a programmers equivalent of sketching). The 8bit people realized …

Hi folks, some time ago I read something interesting about the ViRGE's D3D drivers.. As far as I remember, it was about the fact they were either badly coded and / or the D3D architecure was somewhat less than perfect for the internal workings of the ViRGE. Sorry, can't remember all of the details …

Re: Working Windows 98 Emulator with 3D-Acceleration?

in PC Emulation
Why is PCem slow? I have good computer and i can't Emulate Pentium MMX 233. Even sound lagging at Windows startup. Will be PCem always slow? Is there any other Emulator with 3DFX? In DOSBox many Windows 9x games doesn't work. 86Box, a popular PCem fork, has got optimized binaries for certain …

I think that could even be possible, kinda. Some sort of VNC software could help with that. I recall that certain programs like PC Tools' Commute or DESQView/X had such abilities. Maybe its possible to run them in VMs or use the VM's remote desktop functionality. Then all it needs is an 8088- …

Re: Tulip pc compact 2

Perhaps that's just the way it is ? 15KHz is CGA territory, as we know. For a proper EGA monitor there's nothing wrong with beeing a single frequency device. :) I'd be worse if it was the other way round (It couldn't run EGATrek then). Anyway, there's little I found. Some German magazine archive …

Re: What is a 'physical' CPU?

Of couse not. Even the Zilog 80 was superscalar somehow . This AMD guy is probably just one of these marketing people. Maybe he was referring to threads or whatsoever (even that wouldn't have been fully correct, though). Somehow it makes me sad people are nolonger able to distinguish between dual …

Re: SB 2.0 CT1350 CMS chips dumped

in Milliways
I sucessfully upgraded my early CT1350 some time ago and everything since then works like charm. 😁 But I really wished someone could figure out a solution for the "A" models, nevertheless. These models are by far more available.

Re: Links in Windows 3.1 Guide broken

in DOSBox General
Thank you. Please never mind. My posts weren't well worded either, I'm afraid. I was just worried about the actuality of the guide in respect of the S3 emulation. That's why I thought it would be a good idea to ask about the right drivers, too. The question about Virge was meant more as a rhetorical …
