NFS The Run, Virtual Machine Platform and Windows 11

in Windows
Got a problem with NFS The Run after I upgraded to Windows 11. Whenever I try to start it, the game shows an error "Sorry, this application cannot run under a Virtual Machine". Disabling Virtual Machine Platform solves the issue, however this also disables WSL2 which I use from time to time (I'm …

Re: Where can I get NFS1, 2, 3 audio CD?

in Windows
No official soundtracks have been released. What you can do is what others suggested - extract the tracks yourself. I did that in the past using a tool called Game Audio Player. It can also convert the audio files to WAV - you can easily use those to make your own audio CDs.

Re: NFS Undercover - patch 1.0.18 freezes the game

in Windows
Hi, thanks for the quick response :) Have you tried turning off hyperthreading in the bios ? No, but to be honest I'd rather not compromise the performance of my PC for the sake of one game (which isn't even that good to begin with...). Also changing the setting each time I play the game sounds like …

NFS Undercover - patch 1.0.18 freezes the game

in Windows
Hi there. I have a problem running NFS Undercover. Namely, I cannot get past the loading screen after I select my profile - the game freezes without any warning message and I have to kill the process in Task Manager. This happens on both Origin and DVD version updated to 1.0.18. The game runs fine …

Re: WMA source filter - has anyone found a solution?

Exactly. Anyone can just launch a music player in the background, but it just doesn't feel right. What I mean is that in certain points the music should change automatically (like when starting a race). This workaround doesn't provide that. I'm sure someone could write a proper replacement dll (I …

WMA source filter - has anyone found a solution?

As the title says. Is there any solution to get the music working in games like Ford Racing 2 and Test Drive 6? They both use WMA Source Filter to play music, which isn't included in the newer Windows OS. Would it be possible to write a wrapper (something like dgVoodoo 2, but for WMA music)?

Re: Game Launcher for windows

in Windows
Launchbox seems good, but puts a lot of functionality behind its paywall with no free trial. It's not that bad. AFAIK paid version offers big picture mode and color customization, something that I don't need. I'm OK with the free version :) And yes, it's compatible with native Windows games, DOSBox …

Re: Game Launcher for windows

in Windows
LaunchBox is pretty decent, I've been using it for several months. It has a lot of useful functions, like grouping your games based on the series they belong to. It can be used to launch both native Windows games as well as emulated ones.

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

That's what I did, but there's another problem. My desktop resolution is set to 1366x768. When I run a game which cannot handle higher resolutions, like Diablo 2 (maximum res is 800x600), then the game is displayed in its original resolution in the center of the screen, with black bars all around ( …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

You need to scaling mode to aspect ratio in Nvidia settings, perform scaling on GPU and override scaling mode set by games and programs enabled. Also you have to be on the latest drivers. About that... Can you tell me how I can do this on a laptop with Nvidia Optimus? The scaling options are gone …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

There's a problem with Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2. When I launch it, there is no image (the screen is black), but the game works in the background (the sound of intro plays fine, and when I skip it, I hear the main menu music etc.). Alt-Tab restores the image, but when I try to start the race, the …
