Re: Looking for Pie 3D GCS games

in Milliways
While I'm still in the process of recovering games, I've been able to dig up a few previously unknown titles and some media: The Violent Adventures of Gumby: https://web.archive.org/web/20011218072625/http://dawgpound.quakecity.net/spigotsoft/gva_pics.htm (screenshots) Screenshots of North v. …

Re: Looking for Pie 3D GCS games

It's really great to see the efforts of finding Pie3DGCS games still ongoing. Recently I've gotten back into the GCS and had to discover that despite backup efforts my GCS archive was lost :( I've been searching for weeks now and have gotten a bunch of games back from various sources and people, but …

Re: Commodore 64 Media Centre

The painted case looks really good, I doubt you would've gotten better results with retrobrite, it looks almost like new. I personally prefer the C64C, which unfortunately has even more problems with yellowing due to the brighter case and keyboard.

Re: Bought these games today

I like that sealed Wolf3D :) My recent purchases: http://i.imgur.com/BWAuAuF.jpg Nothing special, but at least I got a pretty good deal. About the sealed Heretic games: I bought two of those, and it's a cardboard jewel case. The combination of that, the shrinkwrap and the ink have caused the …

Re: A tale of two PSUs

I'm trying to keep the 30+ year old computer mostly in its original state, so I'll give it a shot if it's really just the caps. Getting a replacement for this thing wouldn't be easy as it doesn't have the standard AT PSU form factor and neither does the case of the system support standard AT PSUs. I …

Re: Wow, Matrox is still around

Yeah, they haven't been focusing on the gamer/consumer market for a long time now. 3D Graphics Cards have become really REALLY boring with just AMD and nvidia putting out refresh after refresh. On one hand I love how everything is standardized nowadays but on the other hand I miss the exciting early …

Re: Who else is pumped for VR?

I used to have a childlike sense of wonder, then my inner child got kicked square in the balls. I am jaded now. Same here...I've been trying to regain that childlike sense of wonder for years, but to no avail. There's not even a howto video on youtube...I'm screwed :( On topic: I was super hyped …

Re: What speaker setup are you using on your vintage machine?

This is my audio setup: http://i.imgur.com/EsGHIGX.jpg All devices run through the mixer, which outputs the signal to the Grundig amp at the bottom. The left switch is for the MIDI devices. There's "only" ~10 audio sources, so I wanted to have a mostly switchless way of using everything. I just have …

Re: Favorite old OS

I've got a soft spot for MS-DOS 3.3, because it was the first I used when I got my 8088 decades ago. Win98SE (with 98lite usind the Win95 shell) is another highly ranked favorite. XP is okay as well, but it took me years to get accustomed to it...and now that I'm really comfortable using it, …

Re: SSD lifetime

BTW: Anyone remember how I decided not to go with an SSD in my new rig? Well, it's been several months now and I'm STILL not seeing any point to having an SSD. Loading times under Windows 8 are continuing to cruise along really fast despite having a third of my 1 TB WD Black HDD full. It takes 1 to …
