Re: Insufficient memory in DOSBox 0.74 ?

To wd: Do you want to see the content of the config.sys again? You said above, that it looked quite standard. What I referred to as memory-definitions were just the lines device=c:\windows\himem.sys device=c:\windows\emm386.exe x=C000-CFFF I did not know if they were standard or not. Sorry! What …

Re: Insufficient memory in DOSBox 0.74 ?

To collector: I think the moderator el_PuSHer belov did that for me. Thank you for the advice! To roberto: I tried loadfix without success. To el_PuSHer: Thank you for helping me! I will study the posting guidelines. To wd: I printed the config.sys from my old Windows 98 computer, where CTREE runs …

Insufficient memory in DOSBox 0.74 ?

I have installed DOSBox 0.74 under Windows 7, and it runs my old DOS-programs fine, with one exception. When running CTREE (Cumberland Family Tree) the program halts and an error message box pops up telling that there is "Insufficient memory". CTREE runs without problems in a genuine DOS environment …

Re: Lotus 1-2-3

TO THE MODERATOR OF THIS PAGE: It is a little confusing that the present discussion of how to run the program CTREE without error message "Insufficient memory" has "Lotus 1-2-3" in its title. Apparently the above comment from "Stavros" has been misled by this. Could the discussion be placed under …

The above prints from config.sys and the MEM command are from my old Windows 98 computer, where ctree runs fine under DOS, as it does on my still older DOS-only computer. On my new Windows 7 computer there is apparently no config.sys file. Here DOSBox runs other oldies fine, but not ctree.

You should also have a print of the result of DOS command MEM (in Danish): Hukommelsestype I alt Benyttet Ledig ---------------- -------- -------- -------- Konventionel 640K 94K 546K vre 0K 0K 0K Reserveret 0K 0K 0K Udvidet (XMS) 64.320K 240K 64.080K ---------------- -------- -------- -------- …

Re: Lotus 1-2-3

On my old Windows 98 computer the ctree progam runs fine. However, the computer uses some memory-definitions in its config sys, which you can also see with the DOS command MEM. I saved both as files, which I want to show you, because they could maybe be copied in DOSBox. However I don't know how to …

Re: Lotus 1-2-3

in DOS
I tried different combinations of [memorytype]=false in the DOSBox command line, but the amount of conventional memory did not increase, and the error message was the same (insufficient memory). I think there is no config.sys in Windows 7. Anyway I could not find it, and I don't know how to …

Re: Lotus 1-2-3

I tried in the command line (before running ctree): loadfix loadfix -f set dos ems=off memsize=32 But nothing worked. Would it make a difference instead to include the commands in the DOSBox configuration file? When writing the command MEM I get a reply like: 633 Kb free conventional memory 63 Kb …

Re: Lotus 1-2-3

Following your first advice I actually found a bug (in relation to DOSBox, anyway) in the program's configuration file ctree.cfg, where "c:\\" should be changed to "c:\". But now the program halts with a new error-message box saying: "CLARION Version 2.0 Batch 2000; C:\CTREE.CFG; ERROR CODE:8 …

Re: Lotus 1-2-3

I have an old Family Tree program CTREE, more precisely Cumberland Tree - Version 3.1 from 1991, which runs well under DOS and also on my old Windows 98 computer. I have installed DOSBox 0.74 on my HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7, and it runs fine with my old basic-programs, MSword 5 and other oldies …
