Re: The hatred of DosBox

Yeah, just trying to reduce the # of questions. So....next time someone has a problem with mounting that's covered in the Readme. Official VOGONS stance: Q: "I can't mount, I'm a dumbass" A: "RTFM, and/or get a FrontEnd". Back to old school VOGONS helpfullness. I like it! 😁

Re: The hatred of DosBox

In reference to the novice users config option...... Mabye novices shouldn't be allowed to mount any more than 3-4 drive letters? Limit LastDrive mabye? They only need A, B (I guess if program wants a B:), C, and D drives. This would force the user to use C instead of using weird drive letters and …

Re: Odd EMS/XMS memory error

You need to monitor your processor usage through task manager. While upping the cycles make sure that you don't exceed 95% processor usage. If you do exceed then you will actually be slowing down your game instead of speeding it up.

No, No this thread isn't about people who know nothing about computers yet are willing to read the instructions and not to lose their temper. This thread is about people who refuse to know anything about anything. The kind of person who can't figure out how to use their VCR to record a tv show yet …

Re: Blood

Read-only is most likely the problem. I just verified with my copy of Duke 3D and the Duke In DC expansion which I believe uses the same installer as the CP addon for Blood. With RO specified on the Duke In DC files the installer would error out with a Runtime error, with RO checked off the Runtime …

Re: SDL + NT 3.51

Forgot about WINDIB again. Geesh, stupid memory. I'll try that. Sweet, 3 more posts. Hmmmm, Running DosBox on DOS? Running DosBox under Windows 3.1? Running DosBox on ....uhhhh...dangit....uhhhh.....TI-80?

SDL + NT 3.51

heh. I was bored today so while playing around I decided to load up DosBox. Unfortunately it didn't work! *shock* Is SDL compatible with NT 3.51? It would be quite amusing to see DosBox working under such an old OS.

The hatred of DosBox

Was surfing the 'net as usual helping people and noted yet another post hating on DosBox. Is this like hating again the "Man", Microsoft, Government, etc. etc? Anyone else notice this? I would hope these people hating on it would only be put off by a few games that do not work properly …

Re: copy command

Ok in DosBox: Copy file.txt file.txt.bak you end up with the original file being overwritten with a 0 byte file. In Window 98 DOS 7 Copy file.txt to file.txt.bak you get this error message "File Not Found file.txt.bak". Also DOS 7 cannot copy a file onto itself. If you do a copy file.txt to file.txt …

Re: Blood

Check that read-only is removed from the files. Don't just uncheck the subdirectory. Manually highlight the actual files and verify that read-only is unchecked. Then try to install.
