Re: NTFS compression

in Milliways
I us NTFS compression on all of my external drives. Does good for .txt,.pst, and CD Image files. Files that are already compressed do not get reduced in size using NTFS compression. Also NTFS compression isn't that good. So if you have files that you can compress using .rar or 7zip...then do so. …

Re: DOSbox doesn't work for me

in DOS
I wouldn't use DosBox for the games your trying to run....or at all really on that computer. You are using a Celeron which is basically a crippled Pentium 3. Low amount of Mhz and minimal amount of L2 cache. You'd be better off forgetting about DosBox and running these games natively.

Re: Corrupt graphics in some DOS games, maybe a VESA problem?

Seemed playable to me. It depends on what is playable to you. To some Quake 3 at 30fps is fine. To another 30fps is unplayable. Re: DOSBox vs DOSEmu

Odd, plays fine on my Athlon XP 2800 at 320X2000 at 53000 cycles. Fully playable. At 640x480 it's a little choppy but probably bearable if you just had to play it at a higher res.

Re: Legacy , the realm of terror

Your reading the wrong information. In XP cmd.exe when you type in "mem", you'll see: 655360 bytes total conventional memory 655360 bytes available to MS-DOS 598032 largest executable program size Largest executable program size is what you want. To free up more conventional memory, edit the …
