Yes, DosBox works in 98SE. The "DosBox" in Windows 98 isn't a "DosBox", would be more accurate to refer to it as a "Command Prompt" to reduce confusion.

Nah, changed it 'cause I got tired of the ugly Vogon look. Kept on getting questions from people wanting to know if I was the Dosfreak from 3Dfiles. Found that pic in my stash that I'd saved from a thread on 3dfiles that was discussing the possibility of making a 3dfiles OS. heh.

Return fire is a Windows game, therefore DosBox cannot be used with it. The only problem I've had with Return Fire is that it would complain about 256 colors, which I fixed by using compatibility mode. So...try compatibility mode.

You said chinese characters? AFAIK, DosBox is only English isn't it? I doubt it supports the chinese codepage. Can you repost your picture using .GIF, .PNG, or .JPG?

Well even with MS-DOS you'd still need SCSI drivers. Try to find the DOS SCSI drivers for the SCSI Controller and CDROM. This is assuming that FreeDOS doesn't have the drivers.

You can find gameport to USB connectors. I remember using one for my ol' Sidewinder gamepad. I can't find it right now so I can't do a search but here's a very crude adapter that is similar: http://www.pccables.com/70609.htm

Well considering how slowly Decent may run under Dosbox depending upon their configuration. I'm glad he posted it for those who may not know of the alternative.

Could try Dosbox 0.63 and dynamic core. Don't have the game but it probably uses DOS4GW (Since it's a 1997 game) so you might want to try DOS32/A.

By your reasoning any OS on the PC is not an OS since it uses the BIOS. WTF!? The simplest explanation would be that an OS is not an OS if it cannot boot itself. (Key word ...OPERATING system).

Awhile back I backed up my Worms CD to my HD, cracked it and archive it....then lost the CD. My Worms works great in DosBox....dunno if the CD ver works or not.
