Destruction Derby installation issue

in DOS
When I attempt to install Destruction Derby the installer halts and gives the following error: "This game CANNOT be installed on your system because: Your system does not contain enough hardware memory to run this game Your system contains 576Kb of memory, this game requires 6144Kb" [sic] I have 652 …

Re: Monkey Island 1 in real DOS?

in DOS
I know it's none of my business, but I just have to ask; Why would anyone go through all that work to get Monkey Island to play in DOS when you can just use ScummVM? Isn't it obvious? To increase the nostalgia factor. While most of the old games I play are genuine works of art that can stand the …

I could only get my old SB32 pnp, which is very similar to the AWE32, in pure DOS by installing Windows 3.xx drivers. I actually have Windows 3.11 installed and working, my AWE32 works perfectly fine in Windows 3.11 as well. Does Monkey Island 1 work on your SB32 (I assume you're using a real DOS …

Re: Monkey Island 1 in real DOS?

Did you install the TSRs? Do you have a SET BLASTER line? AWE32 is only slightly more complicated to set up than the earlier SB lines Indeed I did, the system has no known issues with the sound card. The sound card works in the vast majority of games. The AWE32 has a NEC XR385 general MIDI …

Monkey Island 1 in real DOS?

in DOS
I'm unable to get Monkey Island 1 working on a P1. Upon execution of the binary "monkey.exe" I get this error printed in the console: "run-time error R6003 - integer divide by 0" The program then has terminated and left DOS in a low resolution mode which I have to revert with "mode co80" or …

Re: Fate of Atlantis and Jill of the Jungle music issues

in DOS
There is a Fate of Atlantis patch for Pentium systems, why not try that? Great, thanks! That actually worked, I didn't know there were patches for Fate of Atlantis. I looked for a patch/update/fix for Jill as well but I was unable to find one. Do you have any idea how to correct the music issue in …

Fate of Atlantis and Jill of the Jungle music issues

in DOS
I have issues with the music in Fate of Atlantis and Jill of the Jungle. Digital effects work flawlessly whereas the music sounds akin to a ZX Spectrum loading a tape -- screaming and hissing with small popping-noises. Even after exiting the game there is still a hissing background sound present -- …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 to Sound Blaster 32?

The SB32 is just a ViBRA version of the AWE32 with no YM812, so your OPL2/3 will be screwed. The RAM expansion slot is only used for storing Soundfonts for the EMU8K synthesizer on the card, only for midi. No, your sound in games won't sound better than a SB16, but there is native wavetable midi …

Sound Blaster 16 to Sound Blaster 32?

When I was a kid I had the SB16 and I always wondered what the SB32 sounded like in DOS games. :-) Now I have a SB32 and I'd like to replace the SB16 in my dedicated DOS/Win3.11 computer with the SB32. I was just wondering if there is any difference at all, and what is the difference like? I've …
