in Windows
cheers - well the display properties just wont go lower than 800x600. i can put the maximum resolution down to 640x480 on the advanced display properties by unchecking use ddc info, but then it just makes the screen to big for the monitor so for eg when u put the cursor to th top of the screen it …

in Windows

phantasmagoria 2 on xp

Re: Phantasmagoria 2 Problem

in DOS
Yeah the movies do look better in windows if you set your screen resolution to 16 bit High colour. In dos you only get 8 bit 256 colours. if your screen resolution is 32 bit you should still put it down to 16 bit because on 32 bit ok it looks better than 8 bit but actually not as good as 16 which …

in DOS
i've been trying to play this game on two relatively old computers. here are my problems with it - hope u can help me cheers! running on windows 98 [windows and dos] pentium 650, 192 mb ram originally it ran fine until i had to swap discs then it screwed up, i plugged in my older computer to fix …

Re: Harvester : swapping CDs

cheers - i tried that but i still couldnt find it - there are two more things that may be contributing to the problem tho. a- it only seems to register certain verbs if an object is past over them - eg - you cant click on them to examine them - or even to make text appear down the bottom, unless u …

Re: Monkey Island asks for a disk.

hmm - there's so many different versions of monkey island out there, or maybe my comp is so full of error it's reporting file sizes wrong, either way playing monkey island without sound looses half the fun of the game. Disk swapping isnt too bad if u use gameblaster sound, plus if the amiga versions …

Re: Harvester : swapping CDs

this happened to me when i was playing harvester through windows 98 dos, it worked fine up until swapping cds like yours did, i found the problem was i was using the dvd/cdr drive or that i was using a second drive installed on my pc, try A: using the first drive if u aren't already, B. playing it …

Re: Monkey Island asks for a disk.

if u have disk1.lec you must be running the floppy version from the Hard disk - i tried it direct from disk the other day to see what disk swapping was like - there shore is a lot of it, especially if you have roland sound then it asks you to insert disk 4 then 1 again every time you change screen …

Re: Flight of the amazon queen: no sound

well i thought it might work if everything was in the same directory but i suppose it wouldn't have mattered if i put the game in c:\queen not sure what i did differently - i think i was mounting it to a different drive letter than the game was on eg i might have been mounting c:\queen to D:\ as for …

Re: Flight of the amazon queen: no sound

cheers - i guess i was mounting to the wrong drive letter or something cos i followed ur instructions, copied the game to c and mounted it as C:\queen.sav, i ran the setup program separatly from c:\english, then typed queen and it worked, the soundblaster music sounded naff at first so i tried …

Re: Flight of the amazon queen: no sound

Thanks man but it didn't work - i tried it from both my hard drives, put everything and dosbox in the same directory and i even created the setup file outside dosbox before runnning - it still isn't reading it - it has got something to do with not reading the setup file tho cos i can't save either …

Any chance of a dreamcast port of DOSBOX

Dreamcast may be a dead commercial console but there's still loads of homebrew emulation on it including scummvm and freesci. so is there any chance of porting DOSBOX to it, it would be well good to see all my old pc games running on the big screen with dolby digital 🤣!

Re: Gabriel Knight 2

When did GK2 stop running in Windows? - in runs fine on my WIN98 and ive read its cool on later versions too. Try running directly from windows but bypassing the memory detection stuff in the setup, it should then install and run fine without any extra software, then again it could have stopped …

Flight of the amazon queen: no sound

i am pleased to see this near impossible to run game [even on old comps cos it needed loads of conventional memory] is runnable with dosbox - only problem is there's no sound - the sound tests in the setup work fine with the music and Joe saying "im joe king pilot for hire but then dosbox asks for …
