If you know how to remove the cables from the connector(as they should use 2 pin connectors instead of 3 like the power led) you can use either the turbo or hdd led to test and see if it's working when connected to those pins. The Keylock connector is also for the power led. The power led should be a 3 pin connector with a missing pin on the middle. The first two pins on the board I think are for the keylock, so pins 3 and 5 should work for the led. Check the polarity. If it doesn't work one way, try the other.

I used to have a memory/multi i/o card with a RTC, and in order for it to work, you would run a program that stores the date/time settings on the card. Then, you have to load a file that reads the settings from the card, in autoexec.bat. So each time it starts, it updates the correct settings.

Keep in mind that all of those look like simple displays, ready to use on a circuit board. All the displays mounted on old computer cases had a small circuit that would control them using jumpers, change the speed when set to turbo mode or not, etc.

Most early 16bit VGA cards work fine on 8bit ISA slots on a PC-XT. Some of them might be jumper selectable 8/16bit.

I would recommend to buy a 80C286 cpu instead of a 80286, even if it's faster, and run it @12MHz if you like. It runs a lot cooler than the standard 286s. And there are a lot of them at ebay, and they don't cost too much.

I can't find anything. But each of the 424256 chips is 128kb, so all eight of them should be 1MB, not 2.

In my opinion, anything above 1MB is useless on a 286. A 386sx is going to be a little faster than a 286. But it's going to be easy to build(most boards use simms, and the cpu runs a lot cooler).
