Re: Humans 3: Evolution

That is a switch that brings the floor up just to the left of a little pillar near where 3 of the Humans start the level. If you look at 5:11 in the video, I get the purple guy to flick the switch. You can just see a piece of the floor appear in the very bottom right of the screen. In typing this …

Humans 3: Evolution

This is not strictly a question about getting the game working, but I figured this is a good place to ask this: I have the game working (in DOSBox) but I am stuck on level 9. It seems completely impossible to complete as there is no route to the exit. I don't know if this is due to a design flaw/bug …

Re: FS: Ebay - Gravis UltraSound card

I've checked with the post office and you CAN use the small packets services. Apparently a small packet is anything up to 1.5 meters length and 3m circumferance, which sounds likely a bluddy crate to me! So the prices using "small packets" services are as follows: Shipped inside original box wrapped …

Re: FS: Ebay - Gravis UltraSound card

The problem is with the size and weight of it :( At just under 1.5Kg in the original box, or just under 2Kg if shipped inside another box, it's expensive to send overseas by airmail. There is a possibility that I can send it using a service called "Airmail Small Packets". As the name suggests, it's …

FS: Ebay - Gravis UltraSound card

Gravis UltraSound Rev 2.4 ISA Sound Card Upgraded from original 256Kb to 1Mb. Fully boxed with all driver disks, manuals etc. Quite a rarity these days. Selling as I'm just not using my 486 retro PC much. Tried to transfer it to a newer PC, but didn't have enough free IRQs and DMA channels, so: …

Re: Gravis UltraSound installation

Thanks for the info everyone. It looks like to get it working on this PC I'd have to disable a lot of stuff to free up some resources. I also have a TV card in that PC, so even if I disabled stuff like USB it still might not work. I have decided to sell the UltraSound as I'm just not using the 486 …

Gravis UltraSound installation

I have a Gravis UltraSound (Rev 2.4 ISA non plug & play version). This works fine in my old 486 system but I wanted to install it in a newer retro PC I have which has an AMD Duron 950MHz CPU and a VIA chipset motherboard. However in that PC I was unable to get it working properly. The diagnostics …

Disabling the Windows key

in DOS
I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in. I was looking for a way of disabling the Windows key after accidentally hitting it in the middle of playing Tomb Raider 1 through Glidos. This caused me to lose where I was in the game as it doesn't restore once you've gone back to the Windows …

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
I tried pointing inmm at WINPLAY.DLL but it said that didn't import from WINMM.DLL. I think actually WINPLAY.DLL is one of the libraries that does the FMV playback. It looks like it's used in some Tomb Raider games too.

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
How do you ckeck US/UK versions on this game? I have the one that was sold in Greece, it even came with a translated manual Looking at the installer on my CD it supports a bunch of languages. Have a look on your CD and see if you have a LANG.DAT file. Mine contains numerous languages and at the top …

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
by update I mean from v1.0 to 1.1 for example... no cda does not work for me too, but I still find amazing the fact that all other things work on a 64bit win setup... No I don't think there are any updates for it. At least I didn't find any either. It is pretty amazing that the game works after so …

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
Here are results of testing with _inmm.dll. I have no prior experience with this tool so I don't know if I did something wrong, which is why I'm posting the whole thing here. To cut a long story short, it doesn't work because the game doesn't import from WINMM.DLL. I suspect the game is using its …

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
Keropi, when you say update for the game do you mean no CD patch? There are no other updates that I know of. When you say it works fine on your machine, do you get the CD audio?

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
Is this a job for _inmm.dll? That looks interesting. I especially like the idea of having the audio tracks stored in MP3 format on the HDD. As the audio wasn't playing, I already patched the game so I don't have to play with the CD in the drive of my laptop (using W32dsm87 to disassemble and a hex …

Glidos - Tomb Raider - Where's Lara's shadow?

When playing the game natively on 3dfx hardware there's a shadow underneath Lara. This isn't present with Glidos on my system. Is this what the "shadow hack" setting on the "Extras" tab is meant to do? It's ticked on by default but I couldn't see any difference with it un-ticked (Direct3D or OpenGL …

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
Is the analogue output from the CD/DVD drive plugged in? Do you get any drive activity when the music should be playing? (ah, just read the laptop part - ignore the first part of my post then!) No, there's no drive activity. I guess there's something different about the way it tells the drive to …

Re: Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
did you try using the 1st cd/dvd drive? many old games need to be on the first optical drive to play music... Yes, I have the CD in the 1st (only) optical drive. I have this game since it was new , bought it with excitement only to find later that it runs crappy in my pc... I had a voodoo2 IIRC but …

Deathtrap Dungeon

in Windows
I am currently playing Deathtrap Dungeon by EIDOS. It's a fab game that was developed around the same time as the first Tomb Raider. It shares a similar control mechanism and 3rd person perspective view. It got delayed and didn't come out until 1998 though, whereas Tomb Raider was 1996. It has …
