Re: Voodoo 5 5500 vs voodoo 4 4500

That would be the same. Difference is: the voodoo 5 5500 AGP card is limited to AGP 2x 3,3V and the voodoo 4 4500AGP supports 1,5V agp 4x. The voodoo 5 5500 PCI in this case runs on newer systems, even on the ones which have pci-e, as long as they have PCI slots. Thus they can have a little higer …

Re: 3dmark99 MegaThread

I also did a rerun of my Voodoo 5 5500 AGP. Since I now use a ECS KT333 mainboard that actually supports 333FSB CPU's. So I've put a AMD Athlon XP2800+ on the socket with 2x 512MB DDR400 at 333 with CL2 and to agressive settings. Since KT400 or Nforce 2 is mostly AGP8X/4X only thats as far as I can …

Re: 3dmark99 MegaThread

Aebtdom, that's intersting to see your result in comparison to mine (few posts up) with similar systems and clock speeds. I guess the 400mhz bus may be the advantage for my machine. I don't think the L2 or RAM would make as much of a difference. I think you might be right. Are you using the nforce2 …

Re: Voodoo 2 - Pentium MMX and PCI fans

128mb is actually literally slowing your performance. I have a 11% performance hit if I go from 64 to 128mb memory on the mmx 233. And voodoo 2 can run almost every Glide dos game and run the windows games in 800x600 if you would like with z buffering enabled. For example nfs3.

Re: Voodoo 2 - Pentium MMX and PCI fans

I have a voodoo2 in SLI, set up combined with a MMX 233, in a closed case with no fan in it besides the one in the power supply and the one on the CPU, gaming while it is 31C outside on the attic. The voodoo2 doesn't get any higher than 62C while it is 33C inside the house. I would not consider …

Re: GTAFX in MSDOS will not work

Well, I have found a partial solution. I had the cards in SLI, but it is a mismatched setup. And apparently MS-DOS ain't to happy about that idea. Unless there are mismatched drivers for ms-dos, I will have to go and fly solo. Filename 20220605_215750.jpg File size 633.8 KiB Views 141 views File …

GTAFX in MSDOS will not work

I have a voodoo2 SLI setup with a TRIO3D card for 2d gaming. I start GTAFX the game starts to menu, but when I start the map, It returns with the message: What 3DFX card? See screenshot. 20220604_213712.jpg I put GLIDE2X.ovl in the gta and the gtados folder just to be sure. What am I missing? …

Re: Recurring BSOD on my system

Ram, Yes VGA, no I don't have a second X1950PRO AGP. No issues with my GF3 TI200 or GF4 4200 AGP8x 128MB. CPU, Yes NIC turned off (on board) Sound turned off (on board) But yeah it ofc could be the PCI-E to AGP speed loss running in an AGP 4x slot :D Or something as simple as drivers, since it is an …

Re: Recurring BSOD on my system

How are your gpu temps? I don't think overheating will cause a Bsod but it definitely won't help you on that front either. Bridge chip cards were kinda problematic I know that ATI had issues with their bridged cards where the bridge chip was overheating. Alot of times putting a small heatsink on …
