Re: DOSBox-X branch

Ah. I didn't know about the limitations on Carmageddon's demo. I had the full game and it supported glide. Sorry about that. Well, seems to be working anyways. Good job.

Re: DOSBox-X branch

http://www.falconfly.de/artwork.htm Down on the bottom there are various 3dfx tech demos. They should work to test it out. If that's not enough, there's always demos of games. https://archive.org/details/UnrealTournament for Windows https://archive.org/details/Carmageddon_1020 for DOS

Re: DOSBox-X branch

If anyone wants to try out the newest features but doesn't want to go through the process of building it in Windows (which is a bit of a hassle), I've uploaded my own build of revision 666 here. I'll be keeping builds mostly updated. http://goo.gl/Ra0A26 Keep up the good work!

BIOS does not detect input devices in ASUS CUV4X board

I have an ASUS CUV4X with a P3 800MHz which I used to run Windows 9x games on it. It worked perfectly until one day it suddenly stopped recognizing any input devices. During the POST, neither mouse nor keyboard are recognized. I have tried both PS2 and USB to no avail. The plugs are still powered, …

Re: Noisy Pentium 3 Fan

27 DB! That's surprisingly low. Unfortunately, I mixed up and thought a GlacialTech Igloo 2300 (rated at 49DB) was the Silent Breeze. Haven't found the actual Silent Breeze for sale anywhere. Oh, well. Part hunting here I go.

Noisy Pentium 3 Fan

I've recently assembled a system for retro games that works pretty well, running later DOS games in Windows 98 DOS mode, the early ones in DOSBox and a lot of Windows games. The specs are the following: Pentium 3 1GHz (Coppermine) Asus CUV4X Motherboard 512 MB RAM 3x 40GB HDDs CD-ROM Drive Voodoo 3 …

Flashing Mac Voodoo to PC

I got a Mac Voodoo 3 3000, so I need to flash it for it to work on Intel PCs. I looked at http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/3dfx/voodoo3/bios/roms/ and... I am quite unsure of which bios am I to pick. I'm afraid I can brick the board if I put the wrong bios on it. The rest of the process seems simple …

Re: [Solved] Setting up Roland Sound Canvas SC-55

If you want to forward the Sound Canvas output to your standard output, you need a mixer. The easiest way is to use your sound card's internal mixer. Get a RCA to mini jack cable and connect it to PC's Line In, Then use Windows mixer or driver's mixer to control volume. Ah. Thanks. I get it now. …

Re: [Solved] Setting up Roland Sound Canvas SC-55

Well. After some time away due my studies, I decided to finally set up my Roland SC-55. It works fine under XP, although I can only get the audio if I plug my speakers into the synth (using a MIDI-USB cable here). Is that the way things normally work? Can't I just forward it to my normal output? And …

Re: Dosbox Graphics

scaler=none output=opengl (Output doesn't depend on you're personal taste, but does depend on what OS you currently use. opengl should be supported across platforms) , I'd say that output=openglnb is closer to MS-DOS, as the normal opengl output enables bilinear filtering that smooths stuff a bit. …

Re: PC vintage gaming project

Does the bios need to support disabling the cache on a S1 system, or is there a way to do it from a program. Semi OT I know, but I'm just a bit curious. Probably BIOS. Or perhaps some weird jumper thing-y. Not entirely sure, I didn't mess with hardware back then. Just software.

Re: PC vintage gaming project

It should "simply work" Very Happy Hopefully. Well, we'll see. However, most games work fine on fast machines. So it's really only these few games that have speed issues: Wing Commander, Test Drive 3 or Sierra games unpatched. Well, I'll stick to the Pentium 3 800mhz that is coming with the …

Re: Setting up Roland Sound Canvas SC-55

Ah, I see. Thanks. I got it sorted out, now. Not as hard as it seemed. I'll use a USB-Midi cable for Windows 7 x64/XP and attempt to find any sound card to use with my future vintage machine. Actually the SB16 is not recommended at all for that purpose due to the hanging notes bug. Damn, aren't …
