Do the screens work the other way round? maybe windows will detect the screen if connected via HDMI, but too stupid over DP? You could maybe find a similar screen's driver that's close enough to unlock the higher resolutions? Not sure if it'll work with the fancy stuff like G-Sync and I'm not sure …

I'd call it an upgrade. As you probably know Pentium Pro is optimised for 32 bit code, so this will preform better then your MMX chip. 16 bit, will be roughly about the same due to brute horse power, So nothing lost in old dos games, and a gain in newer ones, I would call that a win!

Nice looking system, really wish I had a digit MHz indicator, only got 1 system less then 100Mhz, and Hi / Lo that most people set 2 digit displays just doesn't do it for me. Overall nice honest system, nothing too fancy but everything is good, even the Voodoo as you said isn't showing itself off

Think the delay is it trying to pick up a DHCP address, giving it a static IP may speed it up. (or just disable it in device manager when not hooked up)

While not common there are a few Olivetti's floating round here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olivetti#Computers Think this is the 1st SMP I've seen though, is it now yours? What it running/used for? While very cool, its not very useful for retro gaming.

While I like the Asus, if your not going to use the "delux" parts seems a bit of a waste. I'm a fan of Intel chipsets for Intel CPU's so pass on the MSI Guess I vote for either the Asrock or Gigabyte, The Gigabyte's CIA may be fun to play with?

yeh scandisk finding errors each time, on a new partition isn't a good sign. Can imagine Linux being more forgiving then win9x I would partition the fist drive with fdisk (MS should be fine with a MS created partition) Just leave the rest of the drive unallocated, for the time being. Got here to late but SOUNDS like you had a problem with midi...get it? sounds? ...Sorry Only just got the chance to confirm but AOE2 has both CD and Midi, The files can be found in sounds\midi folder and play if the CD isn't available.
