Mostly agree with the above, Win2k was loved as it was a vast improvement over NT4, but was always aimed at for business, for best results stick with Intel. WinME only slight improvement over 98SE, and lost a lot of legacy features like DOS Mode out of the box and older hardware without driver …

Why server? Install Pro and you wont slow down the system with loading unnecessary services. I would give it a better sound card and you have a nice PC for Win9x games. Or keep the SB16 and duel boot with Win9x, then you can drop back to DOS and also play those 1 or 2 games that refuse to work in 2k …

If it is broken upgrade to a Mach 64? Neither are that fast in dos, but I'm happy with my onboard VLB Mach64, and as you say does make windows pretty. Why limit yourself to 2MB? Get a 4MB and have high res and high colour 😉 But do hope your card is ok if its the original

Finding another Diamond Monster 3D II 12MB should be enough to satisfy the official drivers. But as Jorpho said using the fastvoodoo drivers from 3dfxzone have made matching cards a non issue for years. In my "retro" collection I have: 2 486's 3 P3 Slot 1's 1 P4 Win98 PC 2 WinXP PC's Each are connected via KVM and ready to go. Sometimes to answer a question here, sometime just for 30 min game when I have a chance. but works for me sitting in the corner just waiting to be used
