Amstrad Mega PC - anyone got one / had one?

in Milliways
I noticed this ad in a local computer magazine (from 1993) and am impressed - a 386SX25 AND a Sega Mega drive in one! There's a review included too and apparently it worked pretty well. Did anyone here have one? At 2000 bucks I'd say that was a pretty good deal at the time. http://i1096.photobucket. …

Re: Sound Blaster 2.0 (CT1350B) line in not working.

Excellent, thanks for the help guys. What would I do without vogons? Good luck with the mixer Mau1wurf, 2 months! I think I'll just tuck this card in the shed for now. I wanted to use it because it was the first sound card I bought as a kid, I must have been 15 or so. It was a budget card at that …

Sound Blaster 2.0 (CT1350B) line in not working.

I dug a CT1350B (Sound Blaster 2.0 rev 0) out of a scrap heap recently and despite there being a sticky note on it that said "no sound", it seems to work fine - it's detected by games and sounds as good as a mono sound card is going to sound. With later revision sound blasters I've successfully …

I knew the guy. It started out great, but eventually would get the click of death and lost a lot of data. …

Re: Standing desks - anyone tried one?

in Milliways
Thanks for the link, interesting read. I'm actually not too bad at keeping myself moving at my desk - shoulder rolls, etc. I stretch most nights to some degree and like I say I get a decent amount of exercise; I ride a pushbike to work so it's pretty low impact. But I still wake up stiff and get …

Standing desks - anyone tried one?

in Milliways
I sit on my arse in front of a computer all day at work and then a couple of hours at home most nights too, and all this sitting is catching up with me. I'm only 35 and get a decent amount of exercise, so if I'm getting back pain now, what it's going to be like when I'm 70?? I have no intention of …

Hardware you wish you'd never bought.

in Milliways
We have a thread here about hardware that people want, but what about the stuff you've bought over the years that you've regretted? At age 15 or so I bought a little black box called "visi 3d" or some such thing which was supposed to magically transform 2.0 speakers into surround sound. It was quite …
