Since the case is "pristine" I'd use gloves when working on it to avoid fingermarks oxidizing in the metal over time.

I normally have SCSI in my build up to early Pentium, and then its on the SCSI bus. For newer systems with IDE I put it on the secondary IDE channel as master.

I have a Samsung sh-s223 that I'm using for old CDs. It reads everything and it's mile ahead of anything else I've tried when it comes to scratched discs. I've read online that you don't exactly need this specific model from Samsung, but in the SH-S2XX model range.

For Sony Vaio models you are stuck with having to get the restore CD to bring back the Sony software. As far as I know Sony never offered most of it for download on the web. I take it you have checked archive.org?

Awesome build! Could you share some more benchmarks? You specifically mention Theme Park, but is there speed problems even in hires mode? Or is that too slow? Any Windows installed? If yes, did you go for Windows 3.11 or early Windows 95?

This is a software/service that is sorely missing. I used to have it in Google Sheet, but its not suited for combining pictures with text. I've also started on building a webhosted database to run on my NAS.
