Another note: when the new version comes out, it is way easier to use an old backup of Windows than to install it from scratch (trust me, I tried 😀)

Found the reason for this problem. On http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2435 you can download a snapshot (in the snapshot group of course 😀) for the "new" msys bash. Only after installing that one, I get this error.

performance/file size - no idea (but judging from my previous experiences in compiling Exult, there isn't much difference in file size). But should do a SDL compile.

sorry, my fault. must have busted something in msys. After reinstalling msys, it compiles fine with gcc 3.4.4

the only game that ran on Windows and made use of network was MS Hearts, wasn't it? And that's availlable for newer Windows...

If you are running Windows I do not advice installing it from within Dosbox. I once tried to install the floppy version and it did work, but it is quite cumbersome and you need to setup floppy support correctly -> pain in..

uhm, you might have only read the 1st sentence. I tried to run Win 3.11 but it wouldn't because the S3 Trio driver didn't recognize the emulated card as a S3 Trio.

Just tested a built with this patch and ran Windows 3.11. The S3 Trio driver does not accept the S3 Trio card as such. "The S3-based display driver you selected has detected a non-S3 graphics chipinstalled. To work properly, please install the appropriate S3-based graphics card."
