Re: 8088 MPH: We Break All Your Emulators

It won't even work fully on a Tandy 1000, although it comes pretty close on the earlier models. Next month (April 5) will be the fifth anniversary of 8088mph, I hope one could expect some good news regarding its complete emulation. It's worked fine in 86Box for a LOOOOONG time now, several months …

Re: UniPCemu cycle accurate 8088 implementation

What about just splitting the 8088 MPH speed test part into managable chunks for the bus sniffer(of course starting with a jump to get the correct start cache situation)? If I can run those as some kind of BIOS on UniPCemu in cycle-accurate mode, it might be able to find the offending instructions …

Re: UniPCemu cycle accurate 8088 implementation

If you want 8088MPH to run well, maybe you should reference 86Box's emulation. AFAIK, the latest code runs it perfectly. Not perfectly, but it doesn't crash on any effect, and they are all recognizable. Timing is still off quite a bit in certain parts. By "the latest code" I'm referring to code …

Re: Few questions about 8088MPH

I would have assumed that it doesn't. Is it not intended to run on exactly one very specific architecture? Oh it is . In only runs properly on a 4.77Mhz original IBM PC XT machine with a CGA card. It uses cycle counting for almost all effects and specific timers. That is why emulators have so much …

Re: Few questions about 8088MPH

No post about 8088MPH can go without saying how awesome that demo is! However I do have some questions regarding some innards to better run it in my emulator. 1) What mechanism does 8088MPH use to determine processor speed in the beginning? 2) During the bobbing up and down scrolling effect (the …

Re: 808x and prefetch

in MESS, nearly all of their IBM machines (later than the original IBM PC) are now completely broken, since most of their developers don't even seem to care about them in the slightest. On the contrary, MAME's ("MESS" was merged in over a year ago and that name is no longer used) at486 and at586 …

RIVA TNT and the NT4 Driver Tales

Hey. I'm the developer of PCem-mooch, which is a fork of PCem. I've been working on getting the RIVA TNT to work in PCem for a while now, and I've made good progress. VESA works pretty much perfectly, except in rare occasions and when using the 1280x1024 modes. NT4 loads the drivers and actually …
