Re: Where to download Sam and Max floppy disk images?

in DOS
Well, if I recall correctly, the only difference between Sam & Max Hit the Road on CD and on floppy is that the CD version has added speech. So just run the CD version through ScummVM, and turn speech off and subtitles on, and you should have the floppy experience!

Re: Dune "HERAD" Ad Lib Music Hacking

in DOS
So, attached are the main settings I used. (You'll have to obtain/dump a BIOS & graphics ROM file, PCem doesn't come with them built in) The Adlib Gold has the surround module enabled by default, but the setting to enable/disable it can be found in the Configure button next to the Sound Card …

Re: Dune "HERAD" Ad Lib Music Hacking

in DOS
I want to try out PCem because we know which part of the AGD files in Dune control the surround module, so modifying those values should affect the module and then we can figure out what exactly those bytes do. Does anyone know how to set up PCem, it seems rather complex. I'll post my configs and …

Re: Dune "HERAD" Ad Lib Music Hacking

in DOS
On a sidenote, PCem added support for the Adlib Gold surround module recently. I got Dune up and running on it, and it sounds good . DOSBox SVN also has been added AdLib Gold OPL3 mode: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=31494&start=20#p477203 Interesting. Does it also include the surround …

Re: Dune "HERAD" Ad Lib Music Hacking

in DOS
Much of this is going over my head, sooo... Question: Will this eventually enable us to play the games in DOSBox with an emulated Adlib Gold? No, it will let us play the music to MegaRace 1, Dune and KGB outside of the respective games, and possibly also allow us to make music for the format. Cool! …

Eagle Eye Mysteries mouse issue

Trying to get Eagle Eye Mysteries to run on DOSBox for by nieces & nephew, but I'm running into a bit of an issue, and I think it might be DOSBox related. It works just fine in windowed mode, but the moment I have it start in fullscreen, it triggers a weird issue: Should you use the mouse to skip …

Re: Future of VMware Workstation

Honestly, I've given up on VMWare. VirtualBox does everything I need it to do perfectly. I can even run Microprose's Magic: The Gathering flawlessly, and that's a pain in the rear to get working properly. Of course, you do need to use a third-party graphics driver for Win95/98, and data transfer …

MT-32 Init Volume?

I set my MT-32 to a rather low volume, since it balances better with digital audio that way. However, some games (like Dune 2) initialise the volume to 90, forcing me to go and manually tweak the dial a bit to get back to my preset volume. Is this just the way their SysEx is written, or am I …

Re: D-Fend Reloaded (DOSBox frontend)

Encountered a strange issue with Conquests of the Longbow. It imported all cover images as .png, but wouldn't display them in the screenshots section. Screenshots, on the other hand, display fine in the screenshots section even though they are also .png. Looking through the file-lists for the other …

Re: Mortal Kombat 2/3/Trilogy Speed Issues

I think the only issue here is a wrong assumption. The round timer in all the MK1-2-3-Trilogy games does not advance at one unit per second, but more like 2 units per second. I tested and confirmed it on real DOS, DOSBOX and MAME-emulated arcade versions as well. The countdown after defeat is much …
