Had the same issues on the same type of board some time ago. In the end it turned out that the PSU was faulty and the +5V rail was unstable and too low. The crash on the HW monitor screen might be a BIOS bug, my board behaves in the same way.

There is a small fuse next to the keyboard connector, right in the corner of the PCB. It looks like a green or yellow resistor and is marked as "F1" on the PCB. Maybe it has blown, this would prevent the keyboard from getting any power. You might want to check that fuse for continuity.

S-2000 is not a PnP card. You need to configure it manually. Did you check why there is a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager. Normally Windows tells you why...

Aladdin V chipset is incompatible with these LG DVD drives if you use the ALi IDE driver. It's not a Windows fault. You have two options: 1. Use the standard IDE driver from Win98, It'll work just fine. 2. Use a different DVD ROM drive, not an LG one.

The 278MB/s result is a typo, should be 178MB/s However it is possible to get > 180MB/s in Sandra2002 on an Aladdin5 (with K6-III+ 500).

The IDE chip on that board is a NatSemi PC87332, which is ISA only anyway. So you won't loose any performance if you use a separate ISA IDE controller.

Just set the "#INTA Connect IRQ" for Slot 1 to IRQ 11 and put your NIC into Slot1.

PCI interrupts work differently than ISA IRQs. See here: https://tldp.org/HOWTO/Plug-and-Play-HOWTO-7.html You have to link a PCI interrupt line (#INTA to #INTD) to a free ISA IRQ. Modern PCI systems can do these assignments automatically, but here you have to do that manually.

I think you have to assign an IRQ manually. The PCI-BIOS on this board is pretty old (v 2.00 probably), so it might not do this automatically. However, I can confirm that a 3COM 3C905 works on a Socket4 board with a similar OPTi chipset (596/597).

Sounds like you're trying to use SB16 in SBPro stereo mode. This doesn't work properly, SB16 is not compatible to SBPro stereo mode.
