I got the answer from Jan and it seems that the pathched bios activates write allocation,once it detects a k6-2 or higher procesor and the performance increase it's about 10% as long as system ram its under 512 mb,it's lower with more then 512mb of ram.

I updated the mainboard with a bios found here http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/k6plus.htm ,in order to enable write alocation,but after patch i didnt find an option in bios to enable/disable write allocation,should there be an option ?or the patched bios just enables it,but doesn't add the …

There are hard 32GB hard drive limits, anyone found a way around those? I had the same case on my first pc back in 1996,the difference was that it had an orange coloured start button and the dark grey plastic on the front was also orange,plus where the IBM logo is,it had a small display that showed the processor frequency.

I checked the southbridge and its the 1543c b1,so it should support dma 66,so that means either the 2 ide drives don't support it,or somehow i must enable it,but the manual doesn't say anything about ,just to set the drives in bios to auto and the bios will set the drives automatically.
