Played around with it more today. I think you're right -- 1900XP isn't fast enough. Frameskip doesn't improve the framerate but makes everything even more choppy.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it's just as slow as it was before. Oddly CPU cycles don't have a huge effect until they get below 4000 or so when I becomes even more slow.

I ran into a weird graphics problem with Microprose's F-19. The ground color spills through the horizon and covers parts of the sky, and objects leave trails. Has anyone had luck getting good framerates in Strike Commander? Athlon XP1900+ 384 RAM GeForce2 DOSBox 0.61 with 64 mb allocated and 10000 CPU cycles chugs badly.
