Yeah, I compared the FPS from it and the review and there's no statistical difference. The fact upgrading to a Geforce 4 didn't cause any improvement is odd though, more testing needed. So happy the fucking thing is stable though. Windows 98 seems to prefer a 29.xx series driver, by the by.

Makes sense, but what about in general? My GF2 is lagging around 10% in 3dmark 2000 (although the FPS matches a review I found, it lags 1000 3dmarks behind a very similar (1000 for my 933) pentium 3 system. What driver did you use?

Switching to a new 430 watt did not fix anything ;-; aaaaand putting the GF2 back in and using the known good driver version isn't working. WHAT EVEN IS THIS SYSTEM.

I never thought about it, because this was stable with a GF2 but it took forever to find good drivers... but a 350 watt PSU is too weak for a ti 4200, multiple drives, and dual P3 933s isn't it? hmmm

That did not fix it, sadly. Still hangs during the DX7 part of DXDIAG- which is what I consider the easiest test. So: Geforce 2, AGP 4x: Hangs, often during the OS itself. 2x: Totally stable. It would've been 1999 so 98SE yeah, I mean I'm sure people did run it on 95 but it's definitely fast enough for 98SE and suits a system like that very well. Considering that the games it runs well with all support 95 and 98 it's up to you mostly, honestly.

A PII isn't going to be comfortable for anything past Y2K. I suggest aiming as the above, with a Geforce 2 GTs if possible or a Geforce 3, up to a geforce 4- past there compatability takes a dive.

Thanks for the help, actually turns out the instability was caused by the CPU retainer forcing the shitty heatsink to slide, exposing one of the processors which led to heat failures. No retainer, been solid for two days now. However I have a new problem! Only under Win9x, I lose system stability …

Thank you, that bios update fixed the ram issue! E: However it doesn't recognize most of my 512s and 512 even if it now recognizes 256s and 256. How odd, but it's an improvement!
