If your motherboard can boot to a USB drive, that would be the easier way to go; but I doubt that is an option on that board. My PCChips M930 is pretty similar (SiS 645), and here it is with a SATA to IDE converter, a low end SSD and Windows 98. So something like this would likely be the maximum speed.

dionb goes into detail in this post: Computer only detects half the RAM I hadn't realized that there was this limitation of the Apollo Pro 133 chipset, but realistically that's a Windows 9x platform so you can easily have well more than enough RAM.

For comparison, here's my Epox MVP3G-M with a K6-2+ with the cache enable mod. Different motherboard, higher clock speed, higher bus speed, and more L2 cache; it isn't an apples to apples comparison, but your system should be closer to this than it is.

Try removing and reinserting your RAM. If you have more than a pair of SIMMs installed, try it with just one pair installed, and if the problem persists, try the other pair instead. Maybe inspect the RAM contacts and the RAM slots for any corrosion?
