Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

FYI, screen captures in DOSBox are not aspect corrected. It appears you are using 640x350 resolution for DP -- that is not a square pixel mode, so aspect correction makes the circle an ellipse. I guess using a square pixel resolution like 640x480 will give you the results you are looking for, i.e. …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Is there a way to force integer-scaling? Try this. Go to the GitHub Repository for the DOSBox Shaders that was posted earlier in this thread. https://github.com/tyrells/dosbox-svn-shaders and download a copy of the code in zip format. According to the readme, "pixel_perfect.glsl" provides an …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Something I noticed with shaders is that they don't work 100% of the time, depending on the resolution. For instance, running a program like Deluxe Paint at EGA 640x350 and drawing a circle results in an ellipse. Running IntegerScaler and disabling scalers entirely fixes the aspect ratio, but it …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

You can have multiple configs, one of each "set" of games, or even a per-game config. Simply start dosbox with the "-conf configfile.conf" parameter. Each config can point to a different mapper file. Thanks for the tip. I was looking for a way to avoid exactly that, but apparently I won't have a …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

My [joystick] section looks like this: Did you ever look at the [sdl] section? ;) There's where you can point to a mapper file. https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf#.5Bsdl.5D Yes sir, I did, plenty of times in fact. I am trying to load a custom mapper file for specific games on the command line. …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Hello I'm trying to load custom mapper files for 2 games I own (Battlehawk 1942 from LucasArts and Gods from the Bitmap Brothers), because I can't make neither of them work with my controller. I'm trying to do that from the shell with the command mapperfile=GODS.map, but it's not working. How can I …

Re: Retro OSes for retro computers

In memoriam: https://templeos.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TempleOS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCgoxQCf5Jg How would you guys classify this thing? It's retro (it's 15 years old) but x64-only, it's an OS but it can't really run anything useful, it's made by one single guy and it's awesome, …

Battlehawks 1942 joystick problems

Greetings, I am looking for help about a joystick problem I'm experiencing with some old games, Gods and Battlehawks 1942. Gods doesn't work correctly with any joystick configuration I could come up with, but I managed to make it run by disabling joystick support in its config program, and mapping …

Win 98 SE USP 3.57 and DLLs missing exports

Here is an issue for you users of Windows 98 SE out there. I'm trying to install a couple of games on Windows 98 SE with the unofficial Service Pack 3.57 installed, and I'm having some issues with dlls. For example, Dark Reign and MDK2 will show this error message: "IMAGEHLP.DLL file is linked to …

Multiple PCI sound cards

Hello, I need your input on a problem and a way to solve it. I'm trying to build a Windows 98 machine to play both Windows and DOS games. I'll use DAEMON Tools 3.47 in Windows to play bin/cues. There are 3 sound devices installed in my PC right now, an ISA Sound Blaster AWE3, a Sound Blaster Live! …
