Re: Max Payne 1 & 2 Startup Hang Patch

in Windows
Hi there and sorry for the late reply. Yes, my GPU drivers are up to date as of today's writing. In fact, I reinstalled the game, patched it to 1.01 then added this hang patch, but I still get the same DX9 compatible display adaptor message. This is most unusual. Edit Steam has both games on sale at …

Re: Max Payne 1 & 2 Startup Hang Patch

in Windows
I'll have to update my sig: Main rig Ryzen 2600X RX580 Secondary FX8350 GTX960 Both are running Windows 10 ver 1903 build 18362.476 What's odd is that I haven't played the game on either rig for a few months. I did notice that when I go to uninstall the game (for a clean reinstall) the game version …

Re: Max Payne 1 & 2 Startup Hang Patch

in Windows
Oddly enough, Max Payne 2 has stopped starting now with a message saying that Mp2 needs a Microsoft DirectX 9.0 compatible display adaptor. I have the game on two machines with identical installations - patched to v1.01, widescreen fix and then this startup fix from the OP. No other changes have …

Re: Intel AL440LX

I know this topic is a bit old, but I just found (in a cupboard) a Lucky Star (?) 6ABX2V V1.2 motherboard with a Pentium II 350. I'm not sure if it's a tad more modern than the Intel 440 LX, but I'm going to fire it up tomorrow and see how it runs. https://i.imgur.com/r45uIxY.jpg https://i.imgur.com …

Re: glidos launch tr 1

I'm getting the same message all of a sudden when trying to run the GOG version with Glidos. I'll dig around and see what I come up with. EDIT Paul Gardner gave me the tip of putting the whole path in the CD Source tab of Glidos, which in the case of GOG would be: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\ …

Re: What game are you playing now?

in Milliways
I never actually finished Unreal back in the day and now that I've go it running on my Windows 10 rig from my original CDs, I'm having another run through. The game still looks great, especially the sky and I can easily see why it was stunning when it first came out, especially on Voodoo II SLI.

Re: Why I sold all my Voodoo rigs

in Milliways
An AT mobo and a Diamond Monster Voodoo 2 which no longer functioned in 3D. Having said that, I kept my old AT case and PSU (+/-1994) just in case. Down here in BA, Voodoo 2 cards a going for around US$75 to US$200.

Why I sold all my Voodoo rigs

in Milliways
Whilst I had a lot of fun with my Pentium IIs with V2 cards over the years and also used them frequently, parts began to fail and I didn't want to get to the point where they became useless piles of junk. I did have a full tower Pentium II/Voodoo II SLI, a similar Voodoo 2 single card rig and a …

Re: Project IGI vs. Windows 7

in Windows
I know this is an old post, anyway I see that GOG has IGI 2 but not the original, which is a bit odd. Although Square Enix bought the Eidos portfolio in 2009. Also interesting to note that ex Innerloop employees studio Artplant has bought the IGI brand, but oddly enough Square Enix still own the …

Re: Glidos - TR1 - Windows 10

Hi Phil I know this is an old thread, but it's worth pointing out that the good people at Glidos are giving away free unlock codes till the end of Feb. I just downloaded Glidos on Win 10 x64 but it won't install, givng an MFC application error. Any thoughts?

Re: Doom 2016 is the living proof...

in Milliways
I'm running DOOM on two PCs and the Vulkan performance jump with the Radeon 7950 is remarkable. At least twice the FPS I was getting on Open GL. On my GTX 970 machine, there's also an improvement but not quite as noticeable. This is like a free upgrade and I only wish more games took advantage of …

Re: Home theatre 5.1 PC question

Cheap yes, but not nasty actually and produces a decent sound which is a darned sight better than the TV does. I dug out a nice Audigy SE which works beautifully with Windows 10 so let's see what it can do.
