Hi Keropi. Indeed, i have now Al Qadim working fine with a simple joystick instead of the Gravis GamePad Pro which might need a setup software i don't have. The Wolf3D issue seems unrelated to the soundcard as you have found. Enjoying Al Qadim now!

I guess the port 201h is used also with other soundcards? If yes, gameport is ok on my setup with Creative CT4170 at least. Wasn't there an old problem of unsifficient power to the gameport with the old CMI8330 cards, but i think this issue has been fixed with the MK8330?

I use CT4170 from time to time. It is a CQM card. I happen to like the sound of CQM but not everyone will agree. I find this board amongst the most compatible all around, with a very clean output. Not what you want if you are after OPL.

This game seems very finicky about the sound setup. I have tried to setup the game with several soundcards and MT32, including Vibra16 CQM, MK8330 and Audician32. No way to have music with the Vibra16 or Vibra16+MT32 but sound works, no way to have anything with Audician32, MT32 only works with …

The Audician 32Plus definitely works in msdos with MIDI stuff out of the gameport, I have used it with mt32 and sc55. No intelligent mode of course. As for using both the gameport and the wave blaster header at the same time I don’t know.

Hi. Seems the Audician should use IRQ2/9 with SOFTMPU according to the documentation, but i don't know myself how to do that without breaking SB compatibility (IRQ5/7). This board uses the same IRQ for FM and MPU so it seems.

Did you try another player than Winamp? I remember back in the time that i expercienced same thing with my Windows 95 K6-2 rig of 1999 with the Winamp of the time and an ISA SB16. That's why i moved to PCI sound card and it solved my problem.

Buy a matching Noctua fan, they come in a complete package with a lot of choice of connectors and even a simple solderless way to reuse the previous fan connector. Not to mention they are very silent and reliable. I can only regret they don't come in smaller size than 4 cm.
