The VIA processor would only work on a board, such as the Shuttle AV18 V3 that has the VIA AGPSet (I have this board and the VIA C3 700A processor) since the OEM boards are locked on Pentium III and only Pentium III processors due to the BIOS code being altered to fit the manufacturers needs.

Are you using the ATX PSU? If so, switch to another PSU, change the jumper (if there is one) or the BIOS setting (power management) to utilize the AT PSU. In fact, disable the APM under the Power Management settings in the BIOS.

Also, they remove the drivers for their older printers (and hardware) every 5 years. Nowadays, I use the new fashion method: use Linux as the print server and supply drivers for x86 and x64 OSes (Windows 9x-10 Pro) with ease. It took me ages to find the drivers for my Pavilion N3350.
