I'm pretty certain mounting an image as a virtual disk requires admin rights. So unless all your pc are belong to pre-vista OS, no portable solution. On the other hand, Windows 8 supports iso mounting by default; just opening the iso file will do.

Personally I think a RegExp or XML (or whatever) Parsing definition which can be user-modified -- partly future-proofed there -- is a fine possibility. (And the DFR datareader is almost fixed by Alexander)

Since you're editing the program, can you skip the part where you hard-code the data reader and instead make it extensible by users?
