Re: dosbox 072, 074 and Humans 3

Thanks... I've been able to determine that the problem does not exist in 0.73 as well... So that narrows it down some. I'm pretty sure it is not CDDA because if I do not mount the CD drive the problem still exists. I'm pretty sure that the CD code is not called when no disc (MSCDEX) is mounted.

dosbox 072, 074 and Humans 3

I know that 0.72 and 0.74 are older code bases. But I'm just trying to understand from a core point of view what may be the cause of an issue I've noticed with Humans 3. The game is set to use soundblaster 16, 220, 7, 1 and to play CD Audio because the CD contains CDDA. In dosxbox 0.72 after you …

Question about code and PCjr and svga_s3

Been working on updating some dosbox code and I'm having a weird issue where games run to fast when setting the machine type to PCJR. I'm currently updating from some post v0.74 code where the small TLB code was re-worked. I don't have the exact revision number on me at the moment. Does anyone know …

Re: Question about new SB code..

Thanks but that post seems to mostly focus on the AWE32 and OPL3... Whereas I was thinking of the normal Sound Blaster 16 and OPL2.. The changelog says this.. - Add two new opl2+opl3 emulators. (better speed, different implementation approach) Which implies that the new code is just faster. I …

Re: Weirdness with Crystal Caves

ok I will. The only other oddities that I have seen that could possibly be related is strange behavior with install scripts for several games. However in those cases I found it easier to do the install process on my PC and then copy the files over to the xbox. I'll just assume that Crystal Caves is …

Re: Weirdness with Crystal Caves

That though crossed my mind.. however it does not negate two things... 1) The game works fine on an original PC 2) The game works fine running under dosbox on a windows XP machine. Thus it is running "incorrectly" in the xbox environment. Even if the game is doing a no no. :D That being said.. if it …

Re: Weirdness with Crystal Caves

I think you should look at how the xbox port is handling a file create on a file that is already open. Shouldn't matter if the file was opened in read or read/write mode. It's actually a bug in Crystal Caves that it opens the file twice and only closes the second handle. The handle table will ( …

Weirdness with Crystal Caves

I've been tinkering around with dosxbox (version of dosbox for the xbox) and I ran into this weird little issue where if you "r"eload a save game and then attempt to 's'ave back to the same slot it gives a file error. Almost like it is leaving the file open so that "save" attempt fails. The 's'aves …
